Whenn i try to start the game after an os reboot it crash the full system. Windows 98 shows the desktop and white icons...Ctrl-Alt-Del is the only way to get the system back.
The game cannot be started.
If i reinstall the game i can play, i can stop, restart the game...no problem...But if i reboot the pc the game will not work again...
I have an AMD K6-2 300, 128 MB RAM, 9 GB HD, Matrox Millenium II with 8MB, ASUS Motherboard, SCSI System, Win98, Direct X 6 (checks without any errors)...

Any ideas ? I can reinstall the game every time i want to play but it's a little 'time consuming'...

A second issue...If the patches for localized versions are a general problem of us software producers (i have a lot of games with the same problem: i.e. Fallout 2, Lords of Magic...), why should we purchase something different then the original us versions (thanks to the internet)?

Where does it crash? Do you see anything before the problem occurs (after the reboot)? I'd do the standard tweaking suggested in the readme.txt first.

when i start, the firaxis logo appears, as soon as the program tries to start either the intro or to change to the game options (load, new game, etc.) screen (i.e. if i press a mouse button) it returns to the explorer displaying the background, the task bar and the mask (white only in my case) for the icons.
I checked everything, the os is ok, the drivers from matrox are ok, maybe the SB PCI 128 drivers are a problem, but i had the same problem when running without sound.dll.
I just made a test, leaving the game and restarting a couple of times without rebooting...it worked everytime...

On the other hand, one reboot and i have to reinstall (???), well, it simply takes longer to start the program, the saved games are still there and can be played...

The screen resolution is 1024*768 16 Bit/pix.
