My SMAC worked fine for most of my first game, and then started hanging whenever I changed/queued production. I can use the other functions in the city display screen and movies, discoveries etc are all fine. This problem occurs at all bases and is driving me nuts. I have changed all my preferences to the ones in the readme file, I have directX 6, I have 30 gigs free memory and a Pentium II 333. What is going wrong? Check the HD for problems by running scandisk and defrag. You may want to reinstall. Also, all the HD space in the world won't do virtual memory any good if you've manually set the swap file to 20 megs. Let windows manage it's size.jkm firaxis games |

Ran scan disk and defrag, no joy. Checked that windows was managing my swap file - yes it was. Uninstalled, reinstalled: no joy.Uninstalled, deleted firaxis file, reinstalled, reinstalled directX : WORKS! Now my only problems are the bugs thaeverybody else is talking about. |
