The sights (in the full version) are off for aiming an artillery. When the target picture is pointing directly on the square, the actual mouse pointer is pointed in the square above it. Seems like the target picture is not aligned correctly with the mouse pointer. This is annoying. I have also noticed this same probalem when paradropping

The work-around I've come up with is to aim before you press the hotkey. The active point on the cursor seems to be set to the top-left corner of the picture so if you aim with the normal pointer, then press "f" then click where you aimed before the cursor changed then you should hit the correct location.James |

That's what I do, but it annoys me, especially when I forget. Its a bug I'd really like to see fixed for v3.0. I've noticed this same problem when selecting a sq. for units to patrol to.
Speaking of patrol. I haven't tried yet, but if I patrol a unit over land with all maglevs, will the unit stop patrolling? Or will it go on forever requiring me to either chase it and try to stop it or go back to an autosave?

I left a terraformer on automatic on an island of mine; half the island was mag tubed. The former runs for 25-30 squares in a circle (Ignoring the half of the island in need of development), and then quits, so I assume that a patrolling unit would do the same thing. -Chris |

I don't know know what experience you have with artillery, but I developed modem software for radioing in artilery coordinates under battlefield conditions.Let me tell that its a lot more difficult in real life. For one thing radioing the coordinates is a great way to attract the attention of a counter artillery battery. In addition, if your math is out, you just bombed your friends. Consider that most of the UN troops killed in the gulf war, were killed by friendly fire. Canadians have a great solution to coutner artillery batteries. We put all the tranmitters in one vehicle a long ways away from HQ. Therefore our generals have a much higher suvival ratio on the battle field than Americans. (The down side is that our generals still outnumber our tanks.) |

I'm not sure if I have caused any misunderstading, but the subject, "does aiming an artillery have to be so difficult, like it is in real life?," I was implying that it is VERY difficult to aim artillery in real life.Resolute Human Hive |
