Author | Topic: BUG? - AI aircraft don't run out of fuel? |

![]() ![]() Playing in Transcend mode, the Believers moved a swarm of aircraft near my airspace. Since I did not have enough fighters to shoot them all down, I decided to surround them with bombers so they would be unable to move and would crash from running out of fuel. After the Believer's next turn, the aircraft were all still in the air. Is this a bug or intentional? Are AI aircraft immune to running out of fuel, or is this to prevent the weaselly move I tried? |

![]() ![]() ![]() I've noticed something similar, I think. The Hive had a single jet prowling my territory, and then the next turn, a jet attacked one of my centremost cities. "Ha ha" I thought, "at least they'll lose that plane." Nope. It was still there next turn, and I had to destroy it manually (i.e with fighters). Sorry JKM, I don't have this saved. And A.I jets usually behave naturally, in that they will do an attack/retreat (I think. My ally the UoP did also seem to be moving a large force of aircraft around, with scant regard for refueling). This was a suicide attack, however, and I assume the Hive did plan to lose that plan. This was on Librarian level, playing as the Gaians, with enemy movement set to fast. |

![]() ![]() ![]() The crashproof AI planes and the unlimited range AI bombs were in a certain other game, too. I understand the value of code reuse, and I presume that this has been OKed by a previous employer, but these bugs (`AI cheats!') have been loudly and repeatedly complained about for years, so they should have been among the first to be fixed. May we hope that enhancement 3 will fix them? |

![]() ![]() ![]() I've seen AI aircraft crash (and AI copters take damage when in the open). Paul |
