AC played and worked flawlessly until I applied the patch to v.2. Then the game
still played fine, but there was no sound after the intro movie. A reinstall restored it to working (audible) order. Any suggestions to make the patch work?

I've posted about this very same problem and haven't heard anything yet.....is the fix in patch 3.0?

It's misdetecting your soundcard as EAX compatible. Make sure that both EAX and DS3D are set to 0 in the alpha centauri.ini file.
