Dental stories
Buster's Uncle:
O. M. G.
I thought I was going in for two permanent crowns today - a little unpleasant prying out the temporaries, some glue, and I'm out of there in 20-30 minutes with no needles and no drills.
But no, I was scheduled for the (horific) prep on a third tooth, and while he was in there, he found the next tooth over had to have the same - I told him to go for it, 'cause I don't like being numbed extra times, or dropping whatever I'd be doing otherwise to put on shoes and make an extra trip.
I'm a hermit, and I don't like having appoinments hanging over my head.
I was on the wrack for two hours +. The sound of the drill so loud through bone induction - the smell - the holding my mouth open forever, trying not to swallow and mess up his aim. Fingers and sharp tools in my mouth. I felt like that scene in -was it Marathon Man, or Boys from Brazil?
The extended period of trying not to tense up so much I broke the armrests off has me wiped out. It's not even the pain I mind the most - I have a very high pain threshold, and a very gentle dentist - but it's unnatural to let someone do stuff in your mouth for so long, or at all. My mouth is going to hurt for a day or two, also, when the numbing finally wears off.
I'm just plain exhausted, and I'm not going to feel human again before tomorrow. And I stupidly didn't take care of making Buster's email valentine card this morning while I felt good. Uuuugh!
Rymdolov:
Oh, gee, I hope you recover soon. Happy Valentine's day to you, anyway. Do you say that to friends as well or is it just for family members and (presumptive) lovers?
Buster's Uncle:
I see no harm in it. I just finished Buster's card and sent it off, so I'm free for the rest of the day. Back to Foreman Domai's page, now, until supper.
I'm starting to get feeling back in my face, mind you, and it hurts where the needles went in; I just wanted to vent a little, and figure everyone can relate. (Know what's funny? The ad for dentists I see at the top of the page as I write this. They'd LOVE being associated with this thread, wouldn't they?)
Buster's Uncle:
Those dentists ads are still up there today, and I'm happy to report that my mouth doesn't hurt much, as it often does in the aftermath...
Kilkakon:
Good work on surviving man. :| Yeah it starts to get very old after the first hour or so. :|
