The gaming industry was without form and void;
and puzzlement was upon the face of the gamers..
And the thoughts of Sid were upon the concept of SMAC.

And Brian said, Let there be a star, and there was a star.

And Brian saw the star, that it was good:
and Brian divided the star from the planet.

And Brian called the star Alpha Centauri, and the planet he called Planet.

And Brian said, Let there be a ship; and he saw that it was good.
Brian proclaimed that the ship was to be called The Unity;
and He saw that it was good.

Brian then said, Let there be a crew; and there was a crew
And Brain called this crew� The Crew!

Yet Brian was dissatisfied; so Brian created the Spartans,
and conflict ensued.

This was not pleasing to Brian, so He divided the crew into factions;

And with the Second Faction, He taught them of the Workings of Planet and Space. And He proclaimed the University Good.

And with the Third Faction, He gave them a Love of Planet and all the Myriad Things that crawled about on its Surface. And He proclaimed the Gaians Good.

And with the Fourth Faction, He taught them of Control of Self and Others. And He proclaimed the Hive Good.

And with the Fifth Faction, He taught the Science of Economics and the Love of Possession. And He proclaimed Morgan Industries Good.

And with the Sixth Faction, He taught the Ways of Survival and of Preservation. And He proclaimed the Spartans Good.

And with the Seventh Faction, He taught a great Reverence for the Powers That Be. And He proclaimed the Lord's Believers Good.

And before the Eighth Faction, Brian Rested.

And Brian looked upon all the squabbling Factions He had created, and Proclaimed it SMAC.
And it was Good.
