Dear SMACers,
I've been a hardcore CIV fan for years, and it looks like i've found my mecca! I've been following the progress on SMAC for a few months now, and I've got to say it looks incredible. Can't say the same for the other up-coming CIV wannabes (I won't mention names)
I've only been here a day and I'm already hearing about this demo that's supposed to come out soon. Also, it looks like there are a couple of muli-player groups forming; how do I get in. If anyone's interested, i'm kind of partial to the Hive (im a Utopiast/Communist at heart). Also, if anyone needs a tip for CIV 2, I'm the one to talk to. My credientials are:
Can pass Deity setting without breaking a sweat
Have achieved a civ rating of 450%
Have never cheated
Finally, is anyone here from Purdue University? If not, then I guess i'm all alone.

Sorry, uh, oh, there is a multi-player group that I started. If you want in, I'll E-Mail you an invitation. AS for factions, look for Octopus, he's a hardcore Hiver. If you want to start writing stories, there are 2 groups, BoS and CWAL. CWAL believes that the game is ready, but Firaxis is holding back to piss us off and BoS fights for Democracy. I'm neutral, I think they're both stupid.
So enjoy yourself, because you'll never leave...

I've been lurking this site for a couple of months and posting for two weeks and i have just one piece of advice: Surf this site armed. Big gun. Lots of armor.

Thanks for the invite to the multi-player group. As for the stories, I might be an asset; I'm a staff writer for the school paper here, and I'm also an amateur fiction writer. I'm not really sure what I could write about concerning SMAC, though. I'll look into it.
As for Firaxis delaying SMAC, I think that it MUST be out of complete necessity, simply because they would have to be INSANE to miss the Christmas season without a very good reason. My guess is that it will be worth the wait. By the way, if anyone from Firaxis reads this; I just wanted to say that you guys rock!

Great credentials, but they're not needed. Just head over to a thread that has either BoS or CWAL on it and write an introduction of your character.
And I think that Firaxis delayed the game to fix the bugs, even if they do miss the Christmas season.
And I'll get to work on your invite to the club.

If you're interested in writing stories but not any lame BoS or CWAL stuff, you might want to look into the chronicles of Pre-Unity.

(PS, be prepared for the anti-Hive hysteria in most of the rest of the posters here ).
