Several people feel a desire to play against me in multiplayer. The problem is, I normally connect to the net through work, so I'm behind a firewall. I think that in order to play multi-player I'd need to get a regular ISP. So, my question is: is it worth it? How many people on these boards are actually interested in playing against me, specifically (or, although I don't know of anyone who's interested, playing with me in an alliance with the Hive)? I normally don't engage in multi-player gaming (at least since network Doom in college) but this little forum community has gotten me somewhat interested.

Also feel free to use this thread for any anti-Hive coalition building you may wish to engage in. Although, if you put forth any anti-Hive propaganda I'll be forced to refute it by posting the Truth.

The truth! BAH! You know no truth. The only truth you know is that crap Yang feeds you! Come join a more free society & you will see your misguided attempt to make the Hive seem un-evil.

Anyway, yeah I'd be interested in playing a multi player game with you. Then you'll be forced to admit the strength of the Spartans I would actually play anyone here though, because I've never played a multi game, for anything. I wanna try it with SMAC!

Your faithful & hell-bent NIMadier general,

I want to play as the Hive, but I also want to play as the University. My strategies would require the specialties of these two factions, it's hard to decide, but I'll be happy to play you people multiplayer. Multiplayer almost always beat single player, the diplomacy is just so much cooler and complicated. Oh, and the trade is so much better, the attack are better cooridinated. I hope they built good AI for cooperation, cause in Multiplayer, it's the cooperation that counts!

I've never played a multi game either, but I definitely will with SMAC. I'll probably play as the UoP at first, definitely will try Hive, Spartans and Conglomerate, all the others suck.

Anyways, I'd play you Octopus, maybe even an alliance if you're trustworthy. In fact I'd play anyone here.

Perhaps the real question should be, who wouldn't you play?

Octopus: you don't need to pay for your ISP if you are willing to watch commercials and also have a bit slow ISP. Take a look at www.netzero.com if you are in US, otherwise, I have no suggestions. At some point, the service will expand beyond US, but it will most likely happen to late to play smac

I do, along with 5 other forum veterans... it's only 20 bucks a month for most services.

And whatever you do, DO NOT GET AOL.

It isn't really an issue of cost. I make enough money to pay for an ISP, especially if I can justify the expense by using it to have fun . The issue is merely one of whether or not I want to go through the hassle of getting one.

I also would be willing to play anyone here. I suppose the question I'm really asking is: "would anyone be disappointed if I DIDN'T play in multi-player". I'm not asking who'd be willing to play with me, I'm asking who WANTS to play with ME, me specifically . Maybe I'm being a bit arrogant, but I thought you guys might be disappointed if I didn't show up for your pathetic attempts to thrash me .

I may say that I wanna thrash you, but style of play is not suited for it. Frankly, I have no problem playing anyone here.

In fact someone with a lot of time may wanna create an orginization of SMAC players. We could go into a game with 6 member and kill that 1 other guy, that sounds like fun.

Anyone wanna volunteer?

"Anyone wanna volunteer?"

I think I've more or less volunteered to be the one guy . Personally, I think it's a lot more fun to play against overwhelming odds. Where's the fun in it if you're EXPECTED to win?

SnowFire: who are the five others?
