Which will be the best faction? Post ya guesses here with explanations
Personally I think the Science faction is gonna rock! Science always seems to in these games, especially when u keep a low profile long. The others will have more difficulty to grow powerful when doing "nothing"...

DJ, If you say the 8th faction, I'm gonna snap! You don't need to post it in every thread, & it does not really exist.
Now, for me it would definately be the Spartans. I love the conquest part of the civ games, & it's usually what I did first, before the AC mission. I plan on playing them first, & perfecting some strategies, then playing another faction in single. In multi, I will always be the Spartns though.
Oh yeah, down with the Hive!

of course, everyone who is smart will rush to either take over the uop or ally with it, though the former will be more fun.
Morgan all the way, man. If Smac is anything like civ2, my strategy will involve becoming an economic super power, buying enhancements and troops, and expanding a vast empire.

I wonder how many times this question has been asked? I think I asked it also when I first got here.
Anyway I like the Hive all the way. FREE defenses in each new city, no rioting/civil unrest, and the leader is cool! Don't let YYYH convince you that we are evil. Look at his faction. Nuf' said. Ooh am I looking for a flame or what?

Lucky for me, Talon, I have designed a way to knock the Human Hive's auto defense build useless. You just have to use your mind a bit, & stare at the alpha speeder pic in the Gallery. Imran knows it, but it's top secret. You will not know it until I unleash it upon you in multiplayer!!
Imran, I trust you will keep it in the 'vault'.

I think the whole point is that there will not be a "best" faction. If the game is properly balanced (and I'm sure it will be) that any faction will be able to win. it will just come down to what kind of mood the player is in. If I had a bad day at work and I'm all pissed off, the Spartans will be the best faction that day. but if I'm in a tree huggin' pussy mood the Gaian's will be the best. I think that this is what will make SMAC the best PC game EVER!

The best faction will be incontestably the Canadian 8th faction. Next there will be UoP, Peacekeepers, and the fourth far behind, Lord's Beleiver tied with Gaiain stepdaughters.
