I just did a little experiment in "Completely unrelated to SMAC" (one of the duplicated threads) to confirm a suspicion I've had for a while. Every other post ends up in the middle of the thread. So, if the last update to the thread went at the end, then the next update will end up in the middle, and if the last update went in the middle, then the next update will go at the end. You can potentially use this to your advantage by posting a short "dummy message" (I'm sure nobody will mind you running up your post count ) that will end up in the middle, so that the post you really want to submit ends up at the end.

The real solution, of course, is to start a new thread, but this is a band-aid fix. (It's hard to follow conversations when they end up all over the place! I can't imagine what it would be like for somebody new to the forums to try to read one of those threads!).
