My question is for multiplayer games. Can you have more than one of the same faction in the same game, such as two University of Planet Factions? Or will we have to chose diferent factions to be in the game together?

My bet: There will be an option to only use the classic factions in MP, with only one player per fac. Then there will be an option to enable custom facs, in which you choose the attributes of your custom facs and what faction they're based "off of," like a variant on the HH or the Believers (in the same way you choose the look and name of the fac in MOO II or the arcitecture in Civ2). So you could have 7 people creating a custom fac with the same attributes as the UoP.
