We begin with some news event that was on the minds of all Chirons-some news that catches the eye

Headlines - Today Moonday 23:00 hours 2701
The Spartan government conceded today, in a landmark decision, that the kelp fields off of ploughtown flats were part of the original "Treaty of Campaign" and would withdraw it's troops 300 km by the end of the year. Sources close to Governer Timmins, admitted that the kelp from this stretch of NewBoston bay had higher levels of the bacteria Honuras strain B then was originaly thought. But that this did not play a role in the decision to reliquish terratory by the Spartan Government. The Hive had no comment concerning the withdrawl. However, Frank17 of the Hive stated the kelp fields were perfectly safe for any human consumption and that the Spartans must have contaminated the fields before withdrawing. Also today in the news - The University scientists claim to have discovered a new form of steel composite called steelweave. Commissioner Ter Dahl explained that the weave is flexible yet 10 times stronger then conventional composite metals. Although Dahl could not tell this reporter any information about it's makeup she did state that this material was going to revolutionize the construction of low cost high orbit transport. The Spartin Government is reported to be in negotiation with the University to aquire this technology.

On the crime beat today, officials are invesitaging the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Morgan Industries Senior Agricultural Consultant Mr. Ashigura. Only three days after signing an agreement to buy 1000 tons of grain from Lady Deirdre for the astronomical cost of 5 million kilowatt hours worth of power Mr. Ashigura was found dead in his home. Insiders claim that the murder is a "lead handshake retirement" as Morgan Industries executive management was very displeased with Mr. Ashigura over the complete failure of this year's crop which necessitated the deal with Lady Deirdre.

This did not affect the vote for a G2, proposed by the Morgan Conglomerate a group comprising the two most developed factions. The D5, in turn, known as the Fourth-World, will receive aid from the G2. This initiative by the Morgan Conglomerate was welcomed, although Lady Deirdre Skye questions his intentions. CEO Morgan has ignored Lady Skye's allegations.

Those were transcripts from Colonel Santiago's meeting with her war council earlier today on the Human Hives attack on space station "Survival II". Apparently, Sparta angered the Human Hive by, what they claim, releasing people from Hive VII. This is obviously not true, for we are nearly 120 miles from them. The Human Hive is looking for a war, & in the words of General Hommel, "We're gonna knock their sorry asses across Chiron". Hehe, gotta love those crazy generals, ehhh Charlie??
Charlie, in the tradition of all newscasters, starts laughing uncontrolably, even though David Letterman has given better jokes than the one just told.

Garland's "Believe it or Not"
Today's puzzler comes from little Jimmy Jefferson, age 10 of Dormatory 27-A-15b, University of Planet. Little Jimmy asks, "My great grandfather just died and he was only 120 ES years old (Earth Standard). How come the some of the Faction leaders, such as Santiago, Skye, and Morgan have lived to be over 600 ES?"

PS: Welcome, general. We understand that there was a military incident today on Space Station Survival II. The Spartans accuse you of invading their territory and inflicting considerable property damage. The Network Nodes there were totally demolished.
General: Lies, lies, and more lies. The Spartans are ever hankering for war. The believe that war and bloodshed will prove their courage, and help them get into heaven. I suppose you can't really blame them for listening to that religious drivel the Believers keep preaching to them. They should just ban Believer priests from the Spartan Federation, the way the Hive has.
PS: So you deny the Spartan accusations?
General: There was no military attack. Where are the large companies of armed Hive troops?
PS: The Spartans are prepared to go to war over this. Surely something happened. Why else would they go to war?
General(laughing): We're talking about Spartans here. They don't need a reason. But they'll fabricate one to hoodwink the Planetary Council.

Anchor: Lies or truths? Politicscape investigators found no evidence of large troop movements around the damaged space station, but we do know there was an altercation amongst the station security that ended in a damaged Network Node. Today Ausday, at 20:00 hours our CEO and beloved leader Morgan will speak to us on the ever growing need for a space elevator. According to sources close to Morgan there are plans in the works and apparently has been significant research done on this marvel of technology. Morgan was quoted as saying "We are way ahead of University on this one folks keep up the good work" Sources also stated that quarterly Bonuses were still going to be given out despite just missing quotas. Morgan was so happy, said Miriam Dogralen "he pushed it though the commity and got us our due. He is truely a great leader." The University had no comment at this time concerning the proposed space elevator. Although, Dooner Banken of the ministry of foreign relations stated "the space elevator idea has been around for awhile. There is nothing new here." WHen asked if the University thought they would follow Morgans lead in diveloping this wonderous technology. Banken had no comment."
A seperate source in the Believers claims that the plans for a space elevator were stolen from their "Gods Discoveries" research arm computers about a year ago." There is no indication whether the Believers believe Morgan industries is behind this theft. or if a theft actually occered I say.

the owners of the probe "Justice ministries" of the Believers explained that although they do not at this time know what happen to their sattelite they are not concerned for with faith and prayer they believe the probe will come back on line. Gretta Mole a representative of Justice produced a long "fact sheet" to prove this has worked in the past.
And now on the lighter side.
John John Willus of New topeika a 47 year old corporate Security officer fell off his hover bike today and got his foot stuck in a storm drain, while trying to issue a citation to a jaywalker at the hub in down town. It took med-aid units two hours to extract officer Willus as his foot was wedged with the toe of his boot sticking up though the grate. Sources at the scene say no ticket was issued, but Officer Willus will be paying for a replacement grill for the storm drain. When asked what had happen Willus would only say he was distracked for a moment and lost his footing. Perhaps, the BigJohns doughnut house across the street was a contributing factor.

New Taiwan's Central bank joins Hong Kong Wan and Hivecast peoplesbank by cutting two key interest rates today, Effective immedeatly the bank's rediscount rate drops 0.25% to 14.75%.
Manufacturer Lear/Ford Corp. says it will hire 2,800 workers and open 19 manufacturing plants as part of a previously announced growth program - reports say Morgan has infused the company with large amounts of e-cash for the expansion.

More protests to the Spartan-Hive war were made by Planetary Governor Pravin Lal today.
Here's some excerpts from the speech earler today, fron New Geneva:
"After 500 years of relative peace with only various minor altercations and incidents, we have seen our peace that we engineered threatened again by the rash actions of the Spartans and Human Hive. We call on them to cease sending threats back and forth and to agree to allow an impartial commision to inspect the destroyed Network Nodes to determine what happened. Senseless fighting will not accomplish anything."
Though only contrlling New Geneva as a neutral free city as well as the International Space Station, Governor Lal is still very well respected despite his lack of a personal empire. Let's see some political analysis from our two commentators.
Jones: "Maybe if Lal had some teeth to back his threats up this would have some meaning. But ever since the War of the Triple Alliance that reduced the Peacekeeprs down to New Geneva, Lal is no more than a powerless figurehead.
Heidigger: "Typical conservative rhetoric, everything is based off of army strength. I see why you used to be a Spartan before joining us**. The whole reason Lal was selected as Planetary Governor was because he was noncontroversial and had no stake in developing his own realms. And no man is poor who has friends, and Lal is connected out the wazoo. So he could concievably summon the other factions to his aid if neccesary."

This just in. Reports are skechy but there appears to have been an assasination attempt on Morgans life. All accounts say He is fine but that at sun peak today while Morgan was entering the Government building to give his address to the people on holovid. A lone woman carrying a small micro detenator rushed our leader. just as the security team moved to block the bomber fell on the explosive and detenated it several people were injured and one security agent was reported to have been killed. Morgan is unharmed but shaken. He was said to have called the Security agents wife after the bombing to console her. Stay tuned for up to the minute details as they come in. We will be suspending all new services today to cover this story.

BigER	posted 12-08-98 05:54 PM ET This just in. Reports are skechy but there appears to have been an assasination attempt on Morgans life. All accounts say He is fine but that at sun peak today while Morgan was entering the Government building to give his address to the people on holovid. A lone woman carrying a small micro detenator rushed our leader. just as the security team moved to block the bomber fell on the explosive and detenated it several people were injured and one security agent was reported to have been killed. Morgan is unharmed but shaken. He was said to have called the Security agents wife after the bombing to console her. Stay tuned for up to the minute details as they come in.
