Hey Canadians are great. Although Brits also make jokes of Canadians, but becuase they're far too nice. Unlike Americans. I'll rather not mention the jokes here about Americans or I'll get this new faction in war :-) Hell, if Americans would get in war with us that would be a mutiny against the motherland and we'd have full right to retake the control of our unruly colony. :-) And btw, Snowfire, although as I said I'm not British, but I think I can safely say that we're doing quite fine on an island, thank you very much. Cool, Australians are islanders too - how about an allience? It is generally recognised that American sense of humor is a bit too... restricted to comprehend jokes about America. (I know, irony is such a heavy concept...) Maybe we should refrain from doing childish things like nuking peoples threads and instead wait until SMAC is released and fight it out in Multiplayer until there is a winner. How about it then? British, Canadian, American and Euroland factions in a fight to the death. okay yyyh i wouldn't talk a bit about how you defeted the british because you never really beat the british in your war of indepndance. if the british wonted to they could have crushed your "minute men" and "contenatal solders". its quite tipical of americans not to know history of others. the british didn't care about the U.S. people in england wonted you to leave unlike the irish were they toke they armies lead by corwall and hanged every person suspected in the many rebelons. also the war of 1812 you and your little army couldn't even take over canada protected by a militia, some native tribes and a few british soilders. we even bured the president's house. fred |

Yeah, I doubt you Brits & Canadians could of won WWI if we weren't there during the French Mutiny of 1917. Even though Pershing was still training our troops when we were in France in the beginning, we were still there when your 'faithful' French comrades deserted their trenches. Without sounding too harsh. In both wars America just sat back and profited from the extra arms trade to both sides until someone actually forced them into joining the war. Anyway, this is all getting a bit bitchy and petty, who cares what happened in the past. What we are discussing is what who would come out better if both were placed on AC with a single colony each. I think Britain, with its long colonial tradition would fare rather well. As for you dushan, I think some American and European bashing can be arranged |

To the American interlopers. You Americans make me laugh when you talk about beating the British. As for helping out in two World wars. It was us Australians who inflicted the first real defeat on the Germans and created the first genuine break through that led to the end of the war. It only happened because General Monash, an Australian was allowed to take over from those idiot British generals. PS Do you Poms want an alliance? |

No, I'm not from Australia. I just observed the fact that we're both on an island and that we both like it. I've lived in many countries, mainly in E.Europe (Poland, Russia, Czechoslovakia, ..). I've been living in UK for the last 6 years, and it's kind of growing on me :-) And although I like Australia very much, I don't think I'd be able to stand their weather (though my wife would love it) - I'm a lover of depressing weather. :-) (I'd love managing those large kegs of ale though :-) ) Sooo: This is an official application to the NBE Immigration Office for a full NBE nationality. Ok, I've been accomadating, less agressive than YYYH. Even wanting peace. But you leave me no choice. The British Empire was broken once, and there is no chance in Hell that it'll ever resurrect. In response to Marquesa about being equipped by the Brits & the French: We went in armed with the M1903 Springfield(basically the Brits Lee-Enfield, but improved.), & the M1911 pistol(the .45). Those were some of the best weapons of the time, & they both were used in WWII, the M1911 mostly though. We also went in with a heavy machine gun designed by the worlds most influential gun genius, John Browning(who also did the .45). The French tried to convince us to buy their light machine gun(which was an essential part to winning, being able to carry heavy firepower across No-mans-land), the ShoSho or something. This gun was probably the worst piece of grabage given to us. The gun frequently jammed, due to the openings in the clip, & reports say, most of these guns were discarded before firing a full clip. Then we turned to our great gun genius John Browning who in turn designed the BAR(Browning Automatic Rifle), a gun that could be carried across no-mans-land, but still had the firepower of a heavy machine gun. This gun proved sort of effective in the closing days of the war, but before it's full potential was realized, the armistice was signed on Nov 11. All the guns designed by John Browning were so good, they fought in WWII, & Korea, & the .45 was only retired by the army back in the 80's during Reagans army build up. So it's rather ignorant of you to say ALL of our guns were British & French, most of ours were ours. The British also fought with our guns too, so that's coming off hypocritical on your part. Oasis! They make me embharrased to be British! They can't sing, they can't write songs to save their lives! You can HAVE them. For *good* British bands, try Radiohead or Manic Street Preachers. Oasis are filth, pure and simple media-generated, overhyped, underskilled filth! I can put up with the Spice Girls, because they are so idiotic in concept it's actually laughable, but Oasis are a travesty of music, a perversion of sound.. The Gallaghers should be shot on sight. Please God, make them become American citizens... I'm sorry Imran but whatever respect I may have had for you just went out the window onto the road and got ran over several times when you said you liked Oasis. it's clearly too late to save you. The record industry is one of the most truly sad things of today, for if The Spice Girls, Oasis and the Prodigy have done nothng else (which they haven't) they have proved that music is totally unimportant and that you will sell more through image. A definite kudos to any band who manages to break the corporate advertising freaks and take control through their own merits. Sorry Imran, but that is one topic I will not put up with. If the British are reclaiming their empire then we (the Danes/Scandinavians) want everything back too. That means three West-Indian islands, Newfoundland (well a bit anyway), Greenland and the Faer�e Islands (still our's though), most of Britain (Danelagen), Normandy, a bit of Germany, Finland (no Finland is not a part of Scandinavia whatever they may say themselves), Estonia, and probably some more bits and pieces here and there. My point is: Get over it! |

They were around longer, WAAAAAY longer than the Americans and you still could not beat them even though the Brit armies more often that naught, wasted the Scots. To all you foolish anglo-philes of British, Canadian, and American variations (most American "patriots" are of British descent, and they tend to be the ones wanting a return to more British-style values. . .), we can all unite to lead the peacekeeper faction. HELL, why don't we simply disband the 8th, 10th, and 11th factions and form the Transatlantic Alliance Faction (This is the real name in American, British, and Canadian alliance in policy statements for what is commonly called the "Anglo-American Alliance"). The Transatlantic Alliance is responsible for winning WWII against fascism (hurrah for liberal democracy!) and winning the cold war against the communists (hurrah again for liberal democracy!). It has formed the central axis for the American-European relationship and the amount of possitive effect that our countries have brought to the world. The unified efforts of the members of this alliance have kept the world safe and secure for over 50 years (obviously with the help of other NATO members, although they have been slightly less reliable at times when their individual economic interests have conflicted with overall liberal democratic values such as international law, (the case of IRAQ)). Obviously, the American component of this alliance has acted in an unresponsible manner during a large part of the cold war, but that's why the Transatlantic Alliance helps so much, it keeps the U.S. cooperating and working WITH her allies (and we are all MUCH more effective together than separate) than acting irresponsibly and innefectively alone. May the at least the Transatlantic Alliance work together. If that isn't enough, we could have a full Western Alliance of all Western states. Idealy, you morons will all join us Peacekeepers and be done with the whole stupid petty nationalist bickering all together. HURAH! All should join the Peacekeepers, who represent the cultures of every nation on Earth AND respect the ideals of liberal democracy! Join the Peacekeepers today! |

Well, I missed most of this but would like to respond to some of the posts in no particular order. Britsh bands that are now Americans-Rolling Stones, Beattles, Cream (for a time)or Eric Claptin if you like. Many others, You know why, your taxes are too high. (hey that rhymes) Thats why we left in the first place.
As far as weapons are concerned- YOYOYOHEY covered most of this quite well, although I would add the Thompson sub machine gun, The M1 garand, and pre WW1 the guns that won the west the Winchester leveraction and the colt single action army. Yes we Americans are proud of our ability to END wars-(We don't start'em we end'um.) And yes we did win the Military war in Vietnam-but lost the political one.) Let's see what else? Oh yes we have crickets in the US like the Chinese say they make nice pets. If you want sports-Baseball is Americas game. Oh-I forgot, since I am half Irish (my family hails from County Kerry) I would like an honourary membership in the British faction and since the other half of me is Scandinavian I would like to be a part of the Euro faction as well. Any objections? As far as Beer-Roland is right We Americans have never figured out how to make a good Beer. We suck! Anyway I hope this clears everything up. We can now go about our business of kickin Hiver arse all over the planet. |

The Beatles are now American? George Harrison lives just down the road from where I work and they split up nearly 30 years ago I don't get it. We get baseball on TV (late on channel 5 if you can be bothered to stay up) I watched some of it fairly dull I thought. I, eventually, worked out the rules but found it fairly dull. They do have an amazing amount of statistics though. You could say the same about Cricket but I wouldn't dare Ever since Kurt Cobain died the Seattle scene seems to have died with regard to exciting new bands, at least as far as what we get in Britain. Don't let Greg get started gloating about an impending thrashing of England by Australia in the cricket. Anyone else think Chicago Fire's second goal in the MLS Final was one of the most offside they've ever seen? |
