Here might be something to do until Smac arrives.Play Thief the Dark Project,an action strategy game with a twist.You play Garrett,a highly skilled Thief who is sent on various missions to steal loot.You are approached by a mysterious fellow who wants you steal a particular gem.When you do you get caught up in a plot which could destroy the entire city you inhabit.It was written with Looking Glasses Dark Engine which is revolutionary as far as AI and game immersiveness goes.They have built an entire 3d sound environment meaning sounds propogate correctly like in the real world.So if you make too much noise your toast.Start a fight with a guard and if the other guards are close enough they will hear your swords clang and come running. The idea is to stay stealthy and not kill everything you see.You have to use your head to survive. On the higher levels if you waste somebody you lose.
You can knock guards out and drag them into a corner so they are not seen. If they are seen guards will go on alert and look for you.Weapons include a lockpick,blackjack bow and arrow with a lot of interesting arrows.
Water arrows for dousing torches, noise arrows for distracting guards,moss arrows for softening your footsteps and rope arrows for climbing walls, a regular arrow for when the kill is necessary, a few others as well.Also an ancient form of the flashbang.You can move furniture around to block doors,climb walls and get on some rooftops as well.If you like stealth and sneaking, the demo will be out around Thanksgiving and the game November 30th. One of the reasons I am doing this post is I think you will have a game experience you have never had before and this game hasnt got a lot of press.Go to the Through the Looking Glass site for more info and questions thanx.
