In the gamespot prevue http://www.gamespot.com/features/alphacentauri/index.html it says that Alpha Cenutrai is coming out in spring of 99.So when is the real release date ?

Smac will be a kick ass game. If a small delay allows the programmers more time to fix bugs or add last minute features, I say go ahead.

Eh, so we have to wait. We still haven't had to wait as long as for Harpoon II(which, BTW, wasn't worth it), which was, IIRC about 18 months over schedule. Or look at how long Falcon 4.0 was in development. I look at it pretty stoically.

don't worry. SMAC will be worth it. StarCraft was, and what i from what i can remember right now, gaming development doesn't follow the Winlaw (longer the wait, the worse it is the first time it's released).

Argghhh, stupid spring release date!!! Now I'm probably not gonna buy it because I will be gone from any source of gaming comps in June/July.

Two digits after January, eh? That must mean it will be released somewhere between 10-31, and I'm betting on the 29th, since that's my birthday. Could happen. I mean, SC was released on April 1st.

I dont want the month i want the confirmed 101 % date with the confirmed year then it will be a real release date

The official release date won't be stated until the game is finished- all the bugs and everything are worked out. When no work is to be done on the game, the date will be released, but the publisher, EA, will have to organize what previews go in the game and all that stuff.

Aga1, there's no such thing as a confirmed release date. There are only confirmed *planned* release dates. All release dates are approximate, whether confirmed or not, until such time as the game is actually sitting on a store shelf somewhere in the real world... all bets are off before that point.
