Just this idea...
I think smac is going to have somesort of history but not propably as good as a hand written. So write your own history and post it then someplace (hope they make a forum for that too)!!!

(Fun to try with civs too)

HEX ??? I wasn't too sure what you meant by that !!! Do you mean a history for your faction before planetfall, of just a general history !!!
If it's the later (or either actually) .. check out the story section of this web-page ... you won't be disapointed !!!
