I am ashamed of my transgressions, please forgive me for the illness I have caused.

Not long ago, about a month maybe, a computer show came into town. I went just to price scanners and look around. I found a table of games. They were good games and they were priced cheap. I wanted to buy one and I did. but before I tell you what I did, I must provide some background.

About 5 years ago I picked up my first Sci-Fi book, Red Dwarf, and fell in love with the literature. I was also reading the Dragonlance series at the time, so I put off reading more Sci-Fi until I finished Dragonlance. Well, as things happened I then got into playing Magic. SMAC addiction is bad but it has not hit me like magic Addiction did. I was going on 15 hours of sleep a week while driving 50 miles to my JC. and trying to pass... errr... stay awake in my classes. Eventually school won and I sold my cards just as the Star Trek card game came out. I have been emerged in school work ever sense (not to mention my marriage and new baby). Then I found this place. The addiction came back as did my love for Sci-Fi. So when I went to blockbuster a couple of months ago, I rented Starshi* Troopers because I wanted to see a Sci-Fi flick. BOY was I WRONG! Stupid move! Needless to say My need for Sci-Fi was not quenched, I wanted to buy a game.

So there I was at the table looking a Sci-Fi games. I narrowed my choices between Masters of Orion 2 and Total Annihilation. I picked TA. And now Brother I have been playing TA every night. I have a new addiction now, a dual addiction now. It has kept me out of my bed, away from my kid, away from my schoolwork and away from these forums. Yes, I have placed TA above SMAC. I know punishment must follow but please I promise you all that I will repent my sins.

So I look onto you Brothers. Find it in your hearts to forgive me and let me prove my worthiness once again.

Your humble brother,
outlyr 242 (the rebirth and all that)

We all stray my son, but in the end, with the guidance of NIM, we all return to the flock.

I forgive you.

NIM forgives you.

Quick take our finest, fatted calf. Prepare the breads and fruits. Harvest our biggest and ripest produce. Prepare a feast!!We will celebrate!!

For our brother outlyr242 has returned. He was lost, but now is found. He was tempted by the TA demon (which by the way, I would have chosen MOO 2), but he has repented and returned to the fold! Let us rejoice!!!
We will celebrate with SMAC in our hearts. Welcome back my brother.

(embraces outlyr242)

outlyr 242 you should have chose MOOII you would not get any more sleep, nay, probably less but you would have chosen the correct path; MOO, MOOII, SMAC. It is the way of things. Renounce NIM. Follow the true path of NYM. You'll feel better in the morning.

Brother outlyr, Sid and Brian will welcome a soul so horribly lost and so gracefully sound. Now stay on the true path, and don't be detracted by the evil NYM. For NIM shall reign in glory, for NIM shall rise, for NIM shall shine in your heart and soul.

BIG ER, think about your way. Abondon NYM, and you shall find everlasting SMACness. Repent, Brother, repent!

Ehm.. found, not sound. Typos are NYM, correct spelling is NIM!

You are forgiven Brother Outlyr. But since you enjoy fantasy, I can assure you that Myth 2 (when it comes out) will blow TA away. And you have played HOMM II, right? Right? The greatest strategy game in a fantasy setting EVER? Get the Heroes of Might and Magic Compendium now if you haven't, it has HOMM II and the expansion pack (and the not as good HOMM).

P.S. MOO II wears on you after a little while. Maybe that's why HOMM II went on to become one of the biggest selling games ever while MOO II started off with a bang due to the good name of the predecessor, and then waned away (still a good game though. just not a great one.). LotR II was also released around the same time as those two, and like MOO II, it beat HOMM II initially, but HOMM II's sales stayed steady after Christmas and sold well into June, it turned into a blockbuster.

I didn't go for SC because it was still in the high-priced area. TA and MOOII were just $16.00. I figured what i would get from moo2 would be a few steps behind SMAC. and i don't buy many games. SMAC is the ONLY game I will buy w/in the year of its release.
