Why are people using this forum to talk about non-game issues? Finding something relavent to smac is getting harder and harder to find. Is it too hard to find other forums, about abortion, politics, schooling? that you must interfere with people like me who want to read and discuss game issues?just a dumb question

Well you don't have to read them, right? Besides if people feel good here they are going to hype SMAC to people they know (I know I'm doing my best even though I left the board for three months).Oh and it would be cool to have a science forum that wasn't completely covered with every whimsy Tom Strobie ever had. |

Well, the actual fact is, that I get more responces to my non-smac threads !!!It's purely supply and demand !!! I've started many relevant threads .. and responces have been nothing compared to the abortion one among others !!! The other problem arises in that who gets to define what is relevant ??? |

This is a temperary forum with only one catagory so all posts show up in one lump. In the old forum there were several catagories such as factions, the web site, sci and tech, and general. You could post in the on game topics in the more specific threads without having to wade through all the general or off topic posts. This will happen again (I hope). So that the people who don't want to interact on a wider range of topics can stick to those threads. And us ecclectic types can carry on rambling about whatever pops into our heads. So don't dispear your time will come. You could also read the title of the thread-that might give you a clue about it's content. |

If everything on this forum were required to be SMAC related, I think the quality of the discussion would go down significantly. There is not much SMAC-related stuff to talk about. If you've got something SMAC-related to talk about, start the thread! There are plenty of people out there who are put off by the off-topicness. The solution isn't to complain about off-topic posting, it's to post more on-topic stuff yourself. If the thread is interesting enough, people will discuss it. Most of the good stuff has already been talked out on the old forums. I don't want to see the SMAC forums degenerate into this: poster1: SMAC is going to be great. poster2: Yeah, SMAC is going to be great. poster3: Are you guys on crack? SMAC won't just be great, it's going to TOTALLY RULE!!!!! poster1: Yeah, he's right. SMAC is going to be awesome. poster2: I agree.

I agree with you there OCT ... it would just be like talking about the weather with your co-workers or something !!!And you're right about participating more in SMAC related threads !!! I actually try to do that myself, but find a happy balance in posting in both types of threads !!! |

I wonder if it'll rain alot on Chiron !?!?It's going to be tons hotter there ... unless we can set the weather type settings before the game !!! That would be neat !!! |

Simply because 99.9% of the SMAC topic where discused in the old forums. Firaxis can't change the game too much now. Now it's just a matter of waiting. And we need a way to pass the time. |
