This was perhaps posted on the old forum, but I don't remember seeing it.

Has anything official been said about the means of connecting and what multiplayer utilities or abilities will be possible?

for example, a SMAC ping utility in a pre-game state, to insure that the game will be playable once started.

Has any word been given if one system is going to be the 'host' system like civnet was? or more of a collective like SC seems to be?

I remember on civnet, we would dread killing the host early, since the next 'auto selected' host could lag us to death. Weather or not this was due to his cpu or internet routing, I don't know.

In the event of a disconnect, will someone be able to reconnect? I have been able to do this on civnet, as I had a static ip at the time, I just had to beat the timer reconnecting to the net. But wouldn't it be nice to simply "miss" a turn if you timed out? and could return with your dynamic ip#?

ack, now I'm rambling

I'm just curious about the multiplayer interface and what we will be able to do
