It is apparently a reaction to Bob Livingston's challenge for the Speaker's chair, and other flak for losing seats in congress. I guess the election is shaking things up a bit, eh? |

Actually I mean going to ww.cnn.com. I love the net!Hmmm... I'm almost sorry to see him go. He led the Republican Revolution straight into the ground, I think after that fiasco about not being allowed on the plane in January '96 his popularity was in the teens. He came in promising reform in the Democratic Congress's corrupt habits, but only took over them himself, as so often happens with minority reformers who hate the corruption and graft... until they're in charge. Time magazine actually nominated him as man of the year of '95, the Republican Revolution... but interestingly enough, they took the picture late in the day so he had a 5 o'clock shadow on his face, and it was against a black backdrop. He looked like some sort of evil priest of darkness on the cover. Well, the Democats have one less whipping boy, and if Dunn gets the job, we'll have a real speaker. Here's hoping... |

Drat, it seems Senator Monyihan won't be running again in 2000. It's a shame, he's a fine senator... so much interesting stuff going on in the news. |

Some of the potential Moynihan replacements are interesting. Even on the Republican side, I think much worse could be done than Guliani(please, please, keep D'Amato out of it...) |

Before everyone jumps the gun, he has only resigned as Speaker so far. Rumors are going that he will resign his seat, but that is not his statement yet.MedIntern |
