I am delighted to announce that a formal Pact of Brotherhood has been sealed today between our great Federation and Goob Industries Inc.

After completing the negotiations, CEO Goob, leader of Goob Industries took a guided tour of our advanced prototyping research facility then joined me in the Officer's mess for a somptuous banquet.

As of today, no formal goals have been set for the new alliance, other than the promise of combining each other's efforts to achieve our individual purposes.

Goob Industries' strong economy will benefit us greatly, as I'm sure our advanced military technology will help our allies protect their assets. I am looking forward to further developing this fruitful deal.

For the new alliance,
Feldmarshall Aredhran
Commander in Chief of the Spartan Federation

Sparta Command, MY 2153
Official news broadcast

The Spartan Federation is now at war with the so-called "Peacekeepers". Their leader, Pravin "the Mad" Lal declared vendetta upon us without any prior provocation on our part.

Shortly thereafter, two infantry companies of his army threatened to invade our western border, but were spotted by a rover patrolling watching the area. After the formal request to surrender their weapons and return where they came from was rudely refused, I personnally ordered my troops to attack. With typical Spartan efficiency and swiftness, the combat was short but bloody, both companies were eradicated while our superior troops did not even suffer from a scratch.

The Spartan war machine is now gearing up, and soon Lal will learn that he should have lived up to his title of Peacekeeper rather than having tried to mess with stronger than he.

We here at Morgan Pharmecuticals welcome the intrepid Spartan Scout Rover to our frontier!

We celebrate the enduring strength of Humans as these valiant warriors have faced myriad hardships on their journey from their homeland to the very doorstep of the Morgan Corporate State.

We declare this day a holiday and all workers will be allowed to leave 1 hour early from work and still be paid for their time.

Large tents will be erected in the commons outside of Morgan Pharm. We will be serving Fungal Wine and Processed Cheese along with CIO Goob's home brewed Morgan Ale. The Morgan Girls will be there to model the latest in Morgan swimwear. The festivities will run until late in the evening.

Though all workers will report one hour early tomorrow morning for an unpaid inspirational review.

CEO Morgan

So I go away for a short break and what do I find? Plots and schemes and all manner of political shenanigans! What do I pay you for? What have you been up to? Were you asleep for two weeks? Why haven't I been kept informed of events? The Spartans Federation and Goob Industries have allied together, and you didn't think that was worth reporting to me? The Spartans have declared war on the Peacekeepers, but that was somehow not a high priority event? You're fired. Get out of my sight before I strap you to a chair and force you to watch The Phantom Menace over and over again until your head explodes.

They're all out to get me. I know they are. And that pixie who lives under my mouse mat warned me about it, too. If only I'd listened. If only I could find my happy pills. I think the aliens must have stolen them. The pixie warned me about that, too.

Maybe if I lock the door and hide under the bed, nobody will ever find me again. Yes. That's what I'll do.

Nobody will ever know I was even here.

*ends*

Dateline: Somewhere near the Columbia River
Filed by: Edward Murrow, cub reporter for Morgan Broadcasting System News

***Week One***

I have joined Colony Pod 1 to finish the rest of their long journey. They have been on the move now for seven years and they are hoping that sometime early next year or at worst the following year that they will be able to find a suitable City Site in the recently discovered Columbia River Valley.

There is a scout patrol ahead of us trying to find the exact best spot, but reports from the Colony Ship's captain are that the scout patrol has wandered too far down river from where he would ideally like to found the New Morgan city, the name of which is still tightly under wraps.

From what I am told as soon as we crest the ridgeline here we should be able to see down into the valley and see the Columbia River for the first time. We should make the crest sometime in the next week. The Colony ship since leaving Morgan Industries has journeyed through mainly high barren and rocky land. Fortunately there has been little trouble with Fungus and the inherent difficulties there in.
I am quite sure though the crew and residents of this ship will be quite happy to see the river valley.

Next week I will report live on Colony Pod 1's first view of the Columbia River Valley, For now I start the first of a two part report on life inside a colony pod.

As you can imagine...

(One week later...)

*** Week Two***

This is Edward Murrow, cub reporter for MBS News, back with you for the initial view of the Columbia River Valley. We are just moments away from cresting the high ridge line.

Ahh, There it is. It is unbelievably lush, even compared to the moist coastal areas around Morgan Pharmaceuticals, and even compared to the Morgan River Valley. There is a slight haze in the air so it is hard to see much beyond the river, but scouting reports are that it is just as lush and green there as well. As you can imagine there is much rejoicing here aboard Colony Pod 1, the end of the ordeal is soon at hand.

What's that?

Excuse me, but as you may be able to tell there is some sort of alarm klaxon sounding...

Someone is suggesting that some Yang Rovers have been sighted, let us find the the First Mate or the Captain and get to the root of this...

What? Apparently my Camera man has spotted something on his telephoto lens.

Oh My God!!! No!!!

Gentle viewers I am not sure if you can see it but just this side of the River is a Mind Worm boil! We could only wish there were Yang rovers in the vicinity.

I am off to find the Captain and get a report as to what we can do, we have very few defenses against a Mind Worm assault, and there is no chance to turn this ship around in time to out run a Mind Worm rush....

Edward Murrow aboard Colony Ship 1

Day Two of the Mind Worm Crisis

We have just received word that the Scout patrol that was in the River Valley is rushing up the valley to attempt an asault on the Mind Worm. This is one of the few attempts Morgan forces have ever made in attacking a Native Mind Worm. The information that I have suggests that this particular squad has never seen combat and is as Green as the Valley below us.

The hope is that they will be able to either weaken, drive off or at least delay the mind worm enough to give the precious colony pod a chance to escape.

The Captain reports that the Scout Patrol should be here shortly, but they will be exhausted from the forced march and thus susceptible to the Mind Worms PSI attacks.

***Continued***

Edward Murrow reporting

The Scout patrol has informed us that they are moving into position for the assault, but they are exhausted from their forced march and estimate that they are only at 1/3 their normal strength. We need them though to buy us some time at least.

They have open fire with their flamers, we can see the pin pricks of light from here.

Some of those more PSI sensitive are reporting that they can feel the neural response from the Worm boil, and some of them have fallen to their knees and are heaving up the remains of breakfast.

The scout patrol is reporting that some members have fallen to the ground and are writhing in agony but one section is still pressing the attack and maybe even has gained the advantage.

Section one has fallen. Reports are that Section two is pressing the fight and section 3 is down to one flame operator.

Oh My God! The Flamer from section 3 suffered a neural over load in the midst of a flame blast, he spun out of control and hit section 2 with a full blast of Napalm gel. The scouts in section 2 are burning, and the wounded worm is moving in to finish them off.

I cannot believe that I am actually hoping that those valiant men burn to death rather than to have their minds invaded by the worms.

We are still making preparations to move the Colony Pod out of range of pursuit. Only time will tell if we are able to succeed....
