Has anybody ever considered having a native life faction in Alpha Centauri? It would kinda stink with just Mind Worms and Isles of the Deep but add a few more species, control the Xenofungus and wala, you have a faction from Centauri animals. Thoughts, feedback, etc.

How about the ability to play as "Voice"(AKA Planetmind). Your bases would be fungus sqaures, your commlink would be when you pop in to a faction leaders' psyche (Hehe, I'd love to do that randomly in a multiplayer game). And, as you said, more species.

Okay! Here's some more species:
Moons of Planet:
Space Mindworms
Fungal Spores:
Fungus base builders(They need to build a base out of fungus, they don't just appear at Air Spores:
A kind of Locusts which ends up as aerofungus
(New thing, added for the floating bases)
Octopuses of Chirion:
A destroyer Isle
Gaseos Mindworms:
Hovertank mindworms
Spore Launcher:
A mindworm with a 2 square radius
Borers:
Underground mindworms which act as if they have the Cloaking Device Abbility
Sub-Isle:
A Isle which has not yet floated to the surface.

Maybe something like Artillery Bombardment for Native Life controlled by Planetmind? Psi assault, freezes and damages all units in the sqaure it targets, and freezes a base's production for 2 turn, +1 for every lifecycle advancement. Also, after a mind worm destroys a human unit, the corpse should become a larval mass. Afterall, the mindworms lay their larvae in the corpse's brain.
