Everyone else has developed a favorite faction thread, this time what about about maps? You can download them on www.apolyton.net and sidgames.com. You can cast 2 votes for first place and 1 for 2nd or transfer them all to 1st place, thus creating 3 votes. My vote goes to the Europe map, all 3! It is a excellent map and the Great Britian in the top of the map has GREAT resources and is a good place to launch pbs and missiles or drop units.

Europe map-3
everything else-0

Well, I am biased becase I created the Ultimate Builder Map, based on the Huge Map of Planet, and designed for separated start sites. I tested it by playing 28 test games (some only for a few moves) to get a total of 192 faction landings. At Thinker level and below, I never got two factions starting within 20 tiles of each other (except when separated by water). Also, all 13 of the start sites selected by the start site algorythm of the program are balanced.

Ultimate Builder Map = 3
Huge Map of Planet = 2
Map of Earth = 1
(hey, it's fun!)

random map. I used to like the map of earth but there are too many low lying areas- bad for energy and ice caps melting
