I was just curious, do all of you launch satilites in the late game? if so which ones do you launch? and do all of cause so much Eco-damage or just nessus mining stations?

thanx

Not sure about nessus mining stations I never put them up. but I don't think they count toward your ecodamage. I put up plenty of hydroponics/ solar panel (can't remember name). And at least 2 defense pods for every nuke I think is out there. I try to have 1 city always building one so if they are wiped out I hurry another one.

Nessus mining stations don't cause terraforming eco-damage, but they do cause mineral processing eco-damage: as long as a base consumes vast quantities of minerals, Chiron will target it.

Satellites RULE (for builders).

I always put one up ASAP to reveal the map.

Then you can just supercharge your cities. Dealing with conquered cities becomes much easier when you have a bunch of hydroponics sats - you can make empaths without starving the city. Combined with cloning vats (or dem/planned/creche), all of your cities just start growing to the max. I had about a dozen cities size 25 or more last game.

More minerals and energy never hurt either - once you are so rich, fighting off the worms is no problem.

I have found that when I build too many energy satellites, I will get solar flares & they get wiped out (along with ODPs). So I limit my energy sats to about 10.
