posted 08-05-99 03:18 PM ET I have been playing on and off since April when I got the game. The one thing I have never been able to figure out how to do so far is to Stack my units so I can move them all at once.
I assume that is the advantage to stacking. It would make combat and combat staging much easier. I have looked in the manual that came with the game, in Prima's manual (That was a waste of $15) and can't find out a simple instruction on how to do this.
If I am looking for detail on a specific unit or science right down to the nth degree these are fine books, but as to the basics of game play for a newcomer to the genre they really don't help much.

There is a way to assemble a group in one square. No way to get that group to move together though.
A little misleading.

Also, there's no stacked combat in SMAC. It <can> be found in other games, but they aren't SMAC.
Grouped movement <should> be possible. Don't bother reporting it though, they've known about it for a long time now, and its still not fixed.
Sorry you got burned by the Prima guide. I haven't heard anyone say good things about it, other than there are a few handy charts.

You caan set way points, but I guess you would have to enter way points for all your units in the group and this game has to be micro managed enough as it is.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. It seems such a pain to have to move a group of units to a distant location one at a time.
