Topic: How do you know if an artifact's connected?

posted 07-17-99 03:57 AM ET Is there any way to tell in the city screen (or elsewhere) if a given net node already has an artifact connected? Until you get tubes, it sure wastes a lot of time sending the artifacts from city to city because you can't remember which of you cities has already been connected...

The best way to do this is use the go to command in the action menu. It will list all of your cities and show which ones have a network nodes that aren't connected. It will also list you base w/ universal translator. I'll usually wait until the artifact is in my territory before I use the goto command. Every once in a while large bodies of waters mess up the routes.
Also after you build psi gates. Cities with network nodes or universal translators are listed when you use the psi gate command in the action menu.

In your base facilities list you network node is listed and if it is linked the word "linked" in brackets appears beside the listed Network Node
But for some reason in higher resolutions (above 800 x 600) this does not happen
bug perhaps

Thanks for the help. Speaking of resolution, how do you set the game resolution? (I run Win98SE @ 1280x1024/32bit, so that may be why I can't see the "linked" listing in the city screen.)

I think the game resolution depends on the resolution you computer is set up as.

One thing that always works is that when your alien artifact is active, press 'G' for 'go to'. A list of your cities will pop up, listing where the nodes are and which ones are linked (or unlinked)

If you want to reset your screen-res easily, go to Winfiles.com and download QuickRes, one of the most valueable little utilities I've seen in a while
