Yeah, I definitely agree with most of what you say. As in, say, Battlezone, it would be great to be able to command several units to go over a hill some where and do their dirty wrk without having to babysit. I started automating as something on an experiment...to try to see how intuitive or "intelligent" the
game was. Even with all the confusion, there is still alot of killing going on, just not the particular bases or victims that I would manually choose. Some units, like mindworms, are just to numerous (why do I get hundreds of 'em...who needs it?) to issue individual commands to. Another reason (look, I'm making excuses) is that often I'm just too bleary-eyed to reach for the mouse or keyboard, if you get my drift. It would be nice if they would attempt to make a logical choice in fixing this. Some units need more ability to automate than others. And really, it boils down to time. As I said, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I end up with hundreds and hundreds of units...I'm not that patient, that I have the time to move each and every little imbecile by hand. I started a new game after my last post and now here I am, every night after work, watching the clock and trying to get a little more progress made....it's still turning into one of those 24-36 hour long games (on a huge map of course.) Is this the norm? I'm fairly new at this game, only played maybe ten games all the way through, but while it is certainly one of the best in my opinion, it's also one of the longest. Is there a trick, besides tiny map, to making the game more time-manageable?
