Over at Apolyton.net,...Forums, Alpha Centauri, AC General...A Serial, an epic is beginning centering around the Spartans in 2225.
Writers are needed to assume the identities of various military units (or to add others that make sense in the game context). The first skirmishes have been reported and mostly we are 'setting the stage' for the evolving of the story line.

The episodes themselves are being posted on Apolyton's Alpha centauri Forums, Game Stories/Strategy under "Spartan Chronicles", by Kinjiru.

Guess not. I definately can't write. I'm surprised my english/comp. teacher didn't recommend me for an insane asylum. She probably did.

The story line (such as it is) is laid out in this thread.

The actual episodes are being posted in the Apolyton AC Strategy/Game Stories under The Spartan Chronicles:

The thory is that each writer take a military force (e.g. I'm Googlie, with the 4th wing of needlejet fighters and bombers) and flesh out the characters, action, etc interacting with the others as they post theirs.

Kinjiru set out a very rough outline of the situation and the units, but one or two have felt free to introduce their own variants (as a perusal of the "A Serial" thread will attest)

Original units still available are:

Northern navy
Southern navy
Submarine squad
PsychOps (probe teams)
Spartan Elite (sort of Navy Seals/SAS types)

Plus, of course, any other unit structure of your own that makes sense in the time/tech context.

We're starting As Sparta in 2225, and have broadly reached level 6 techs.

We'd love to have you join in

(We're only 2 days Chiron time into the action and already over 50 pages - but I'm a big sinner there as I rearrange my Spartan Air Command Assets)

Cheers,

Googlie

Cool I'm going to try to assume the role as one of the Spartan Elites

Seems strange. How can you have multiple people writing for the same story line without something to guide them? One guy might be writing about an ovewhelming victory against the Hive while the other guy thinks they are allied with the Hive.

Plato90s:

We've got a loose sort of story line - see the Apolyton's AC General, "A Serial" thread that we use to 'moderate' the overall plot. it's a given that we will be fighting the Hive, and possible Morgan, and are in treaty with Lal. Dierdre is off somewhere having been almost destroyed by the Hive in an earlier battle - she's back in the stone age rebuilding her faction, and the hive ahs defeated Miriam and we have Zak's few bases under our control.

Half the fun is the complete extemporaeity of the story line - reading a new post in the morning and realizing that you have to write something to support it, or move it sideways, or disengage your units somehow.

Come and join us, and grab a piece of the action. if you find it boring, you can always write your units out of the story in a massive defeat, or roll your units into someone else's and exit gracefully

I'd like to take over the PsychOps, if they are still available. I have done some writing for Alpha Centauri helping to narrate the "Archives" PBEM. Check out our site--http://www.iinet.net.au/~custompc. I am Veracitas of the University of Planet.

If you still need someone to narrate for PsychOps, e-mail me or something...
