Hey, I've noticed Psi Armour in my workshop screen. I assume that if I design a unit with this armour, combat will be resolved like mindworm combat, but I've never bothered trying. Is this the case, and if so, is there any point in having this type of armour cos I can't see any?

I believe that PSI armor raises the PSI defense of your unit. It will not help your unit if it is not attacked by a PSI unit. IF you want to attack using PSI you need mindworms or an Empath unit. |

No, Psi Armor will not enhance the Psi defense of your unit.Transcendent was correct. Psi armor forces units attacking a Psi-armored unit to resolve the combat using Psi-combat model [just like mindworms]. The main advantage of Psi armor is that it's cheap and reduces the disparity of weapon vs. armor [usually 2:1] to 3:2. An stasis-field armored cruiser costs significantly more than a psi armor cruiser. And Psi armor is cheap to put on probe teams and formers. |

I am late in my current game. I have gone to Fud/Pow/Grn/Cyber for several reasons, but the main one is that I get +3 morale and +4 planet, Eff and support. I have both of the Psi SPs (+50% off and def). Actually I have all the SPs except the Merchant exchange and some of the most advanced ones.I think that it might be the most beneficial to go completely PSI. What do you think? With command center/navel base/aerospace complex my units would get 2 morale upgrades and the +3 moral bonus and if I build them trained.... I wonder if I can build elite units? Also, would a PSI armor unit being attacked by a Nerve Gas unit nullify the nerve gas attack? I may have to try soem of these. Gaia has several X-Rovers heading to my border. |

I believe if you go PSI you go PSI all the way. Not just the armour, but the weapon and extras talents PSI atttack/Deffence, Under the empath song and hypnotic trance. when you go PSI there is little that stands against you. |

Yes, you can build units that are Elite as soon as they are produced. With Command Center, Bioenhancement Center, and Trained special ability, you don't need any Social Engineering bonuses to make an elite unit. But you can't put Trance or Empath Song on any unit which carries Psi Attack or Psi Armor. Too much of an advantage. Even the best Psi unit isn't as good as conventional units when it comes to real combat. 1) Psi combat gives the attacker a 3:2 bonus ratio. But with the best weapon against the best armor, you can get 2:1 ratio. 2) Psi combat tends to do more damage. Even if you win, you can take a high percentage of damage compared to conventional weapons and armor. To offset that, Psi-equipped units are far cheaper. |
