posted 07-06-99 09:32 AM ET Lately, I've been trying to optimize a strategy using the Gaeans to rush to Mind Worm production and using them as an offensive unit (if you rush very quickly, they are substantially stronger than the other units) and then with the mind controlled worms overwhelming another faction or two. Any good suggestions?

If you'r the gaians you dont actually have to be able to make your own mindworms - the +1 planet rating gives you a decent chance to capture any worms wandering in the fungus. Just get some cheap scout units scouring the fungus for worms. When you capture one use it to hunt for more. You can build up quite a large army like this.
Also worms in fungus are support free...

That's why I want to be able to make them. I can already acquire a decent number from the fungus, but Mind Worms make for an excellent rush, so I want to be able to make many as early as possible and rush.

Build a biology lab in a city near a monolith and start cranking those babies out. If you want to really boost production in that city build a punishment sphere and genejack factory. Your city population won't be hindered by drones and your production will skyrocket - well worth the halved research for that city (even two or three)IMO. The pun. sphere and factory probably won't come early enough, but Bio labs are pretty early, I think, and the monoliths... you get the idea.
After reading over this, I think it just might work

P.S. there's a thread here somewhere with really good advice on punishment spheres.
