Yes, if the UN charter is repealed, then nerve stapling is quite attractive, but:1. You still want a long-term solution to the drones. 2. Ever met a rampaging Yang, Miriam, Santiago (or Deirdre) when the UN charter is repealed? Usually the first three will vote to repeal it, so I suspect they have something wicked planned, and therefore I always vote against. But give it a try, and report back. |

But it works if you are wickeder than yang/santiago/miriam. Make that more wicked. Just have to expect to get a few of your cities PB'd in exchange for PB'ing a lot of their cities. Laced with nerve gas infantry. And genetic warfare probe teams. |

There are better ways to take care of drones. If you are worried about the ai PB'ing you the you shouldn't nerve staple drones from cities you conquered from them. Conquered cities are so worthless I just convert all the workers to empaths to eliminate the drones. The cities might run low on nutrients but that's ok. If you really need that city for war production then rush a recreation commons and place a couple of military units there if you have a decent police rating. |

If it's big enough I prefer to rush a Punishment Sphere. War is a brisk business, and rushing a few recreation facilities can take some time when the minerals are low due to lots of drones. Besides, who wants to nurse conquered cities anyway? Punishment where punishment is due! :]RGE |

Nerve stapling also eliminates talents and the "golden age" growth bonuses. It is useful with newly conquered cities, which can be a pain in the a$$ to manage, and which you need to get under control quickly. If you have a well developed society, the economic loss from sanctions can be very painful, unless you are at war with everyone. Also - if you lift the UN Charter, the AI can and will freely commit atrocities, including PB's (whether they have the tech or not) and nerve gas. This will seriously piss planet off, and Edward, no you can't ever capture mindworms that are generated by planet in response to ecodamage or nerve gas or PB's - they are different from ordinary mindworms. Also, if you play at transcend, the mindworms you encounter when planet gets upset are not the little pre-larval wimps you may be used to in the early part of the game. In a transcend game, it is bad strategy to repeal the UN Charter, as this way lower's the AI's already low restraints against atrocities, and the human player is far more a target of both planet and the AI factions than the other AI factions. No matter who commits the atrocity, the human player gets most of the mindworm attention. |
