First, take a little more time to type.

Second, the fastest land unit you can make is a Anti-Grav Strut Elite Hovertank - 5 movement points.

Late in the game you can make gravships which can take over enemy bases. They have the best movement for a unit capable of conquering an enemy base. I'm not sure of the exact movement value. They come so late I rarely use them.

Of coarse you could always modify the rules file.

But Gravships can't use roads or magrails. Overall mobility wise, a Gravship is not as mobile as a Drop Hovertank.

After you build a Gravship at your home region, it'll take several turns to get to the battle front unless you have Psi Gate. But with orbital insertion tech, a Drop Hovertank can be there in a single turn.

In addition, Hovertank can attack multiple times while Gravships are limited to 1.

So for an extensive campaign, stick with ground troops. I get great satisfaction from using 2 Gravships to conquer a single enemy base and then dropping a dozen infantry and hovertank units into that city, instantly upgrading them to non-Drop units, and moving them out the same turn.

Actually, I find Edward (I of England) the fish's typographic spelling to be a refreshing blast from the past - Middle English to be precise: I haven't seen anything like it since Geoffrey Chaucer was as fresh as a hot bread kitchen.

Well, things vary from game to game, setting to setting.

I have found Locusts of Chiron to be very useful in base capture.

In fact, with a handful of Locusts and conventional air units to clean bases out, you can steamroll without any ground units at all!
