I'm playing the University faction, the level one below transcend huge palnet. I want to follow a builder strategy, I have not encountered any one. Drones are hurting me, what economy should I use, planned hurts efficiency, but the police -5 on free market is a killer. so far 50% econ 50% research no psych, I'm using talents to control drones. I have the sp that gives one talent per base. Please give me some pointers on how to play this faction. Thank you.

if you wanna be a true builder go free market! you are on thinker and you have the Human Genome Project so drones are a problem but aren't that bad. think about this, right now you can only use one military unit to control drones with(unless you are a police state), so as long as you at peace use free market because unless military units are outside of your borders a -5 police is no worse than a -2 police.

to control drones here is what you need to do. put everything you can into getting the Virtual world special project. it counts as a hologram theater at all of your bases with a network node, so that means you'll get a hologram theater at all of your bases for free. build recreation commons, research hospitals, treefarms, hybrid forests, and biolabs and you won' have drone problems for a long time.

also with free market make sure you are always using your money. spend all of it every turn. buy buildings, but here's the trick when buying a building. here are two strategies. either do a partial payment on it until there is just one turn left, or do a partial payment and pay 20 energy over it's cost. that 20 energy will complete the first row of minerals and that means it will cost less when you ty to buy the next item (not just 20 minerals less the way the hurry formula works out will make it alot cheaper for most things)

I agree with Korn- go free market. If you want to start a war, put a punishment sphere in one crappy base and build all your units there, using your extra FM money to hurry them to the front. The units should be clean because mineral output here will be very bad if you followed the strategy right. Also, be sure not to allocate money to Psych. It's a waste. It blows your entire research bonus out the window.

Do get the Virtual World and build all the facilities Korn listed. Resist any temptation to build a sphere in any base but the one I described earlier. The -50% labs kills you in the end. Let your governor handle drones in your other bases. He does a fair job of it.

Maximize your research bonus. Build labs enhancing facilities, mirror parks, etc., and you should be well on your way to a trancendence victory.

Hey korn -

There has a discussion about the hurry payment in another thread, and if you pay 20 energy OVER your hurry cost, then the mineral production in that city is wasted next turn. You can carry only 10 minerals over to the next item in the queue when finishing a unit on a given turn.

I think the optimal payment is: (20 over hurry cost) - 2*(city mineral production)

That assumes you have enough % completed to use the 2 energy/mineral hurry cost.
