I read about Orbital Pods, Nexus Mining and atroid blast and that stuff in the forum. As it appears that the blasts occur more often at higher levels (transendend), I never build those Orbital Pods for defense. The moment I need them a astroid blast has destroyed them all. For regular missiles I build a defend unit with the highest defend shield, which works. The Planet Buster itself I control by watching my enemies carefully. The moment my enemy is almost done building it, I sent some probe teams (drop)to destroy gone is the threath. To avoid building again I destroy some drone-minimising facilities on the way.
Comment to control PB's through another way, please or otherwise explain how to disable the astroid blast, beceause IMHO it costs to much time and energy to build a good defense of Pods and then see it destroyed in a single turn

It'd be nice to be able to sabotage every enemy's PBs, but sometimes they build them VERY far away. And considering how early the PBs become available, it's not always possible to get in there to sabotage it. Therefore you have to prepare for the worst.

ODPs are the best, obviously, but you also don't concentrate your SPs in a small area. In addition, build a few PBs of your own even if you never intend to use them. The AI will target your PBs first and [hopefully] stay away from your capital.
