I have asked about this before, and thought I understood the answers, but my experiments with units moving and turns are making me ask again:

I don't understand how many times units get to move before the computer cycles "Turn Complete." It seems sometimes they move MORE THAN ONCE (i.e. a unit with 1 movement moves twice before the "TURN" is over)

Also, the "number of turns to completion" in the production sequence does not correspond to the "Turn Complete" message. In other words, I have watched, and sometimes 2 or 3 turns (according to the producion sequence) will pass for each cycle of the "Turn Complete" button on the right of the screen.Even wierder, variable amounts of time pass as well. I was building Command Nexus in the early game, and watched 2-3 turns disappear in the production sequence per each cycling of the "Turn Complete" message.

It really stinks not understanding time. I can't coordinate attacks with production. I originally thought that units get X amount of movement points, and then the turn was complete once every active unit moved. What is more bizarre is that when the Prod Queue says I have "48 Turns" to make something, I don't hit "Turn Complete" 48 times!

This is long. Apologies, but I'm frustrated.

The game will automatically end your turn if all your units have moved and you havn't done anything that would make it wait for you to press End Turn (Turn on the Wait for End Turn, various events). Therefore you don't have to hit the button 2 times to go through two turns.

I don't really understand what you're trying to say. Have you set the option so that the computer pauses at the end of each turn so that you have to hit return to continue? With this option disabled, I have found that the computer sometimes does not announce 'Turn Complete' so it appears your units are having extra movement when in fact you're into the next turn.

Also, the number of turns to complete a particular unit/facility is an estimate based on that base's current production rate. During the time to completion, a number of things can happen that will change the number of minerals you are producing - your base may have increased in size so that another resource-producing tile is being utilised thus reducing the production time etc.

Perhaps you are right.

Clarification:
1. Turn Complete message should correspond to a year, right? One year = 1 turn.

2. Each Turn in the production queue should correspond to the number of times the computer tells you "Turn Complete." One turn in production queue = 1 Turn.

3. Military units should move up to their movement allowance (mine have 1-5 movement points) each Turn.

I have noticed these things don't always happen. The production queue for my secret projects being the example. I noted that 2-3 Turns would disappear in the city's counter for number of turns left, while the computer would prompt me to end the turn with a "Turn Complete" message only once.

I have noticed my units with ACTIVE orders are sometimes allowed to move more than one set of movements per "Turn" as prompted by the message the computer gives you.

Does that make sense?

I noticed 2 things about base production. If you capture or are given units you must support them. Usually from your closest base. This can actually cause a mineral shortage and some units will be disbanded.

Also, it took a few turns for a few of my bases to finish a unit. I am not sure why, but I finsihed the unit by purchasing it, but it took 3 turns to 'complete'. I'll try and duplicate later.

Oh, and to answer your question, Trans., I have enabled the message so that I can manage bases after I move all my units. It gives me time to think.

Therefore, I want the computer to prompt me to end the turn AFTER I do my city micromanagement.

If this helps any, I'm pretty sure that moves can be divided into the following phases

Move units phase
Planet/forest/kelp "maintanence" phase
City upkeep, techs, energy and random events phase

should be: If this helps any, I'm pretty sure that TURNS can be divided into the following phases

instead of: If this helps any, I'm pretty sure that moves can be divided into the following phases
