Say i have learnt certain technology, and i can upgrade to better units. But i notice after creating the new units, the old units aren't upgraded. DO i need to disband them? Or is there a way to upgrade them?

Ctrl U on each unit from at the start of its move will give you the choice to upgrade individual units, once you've designed an upgrade. You can also upgrade in the workshop, by designing the upgrade, then going back to the old unit class, clicking on it and hitting upgrade. You can't upgrade across platforms - for instance rover to hovertank or infactry to rover. Also, needlejets without the SAM special ability are not upgradable to SAM needlejets.Keep two things in mind: If you are upgrading to a new weapon or armor that you haven't used before, you have to build a prototype unit of any kind with that weapon or armor, or the upgrade cost is outrageous. Also, it is more expensive to upgrade in several steps, so only upgrade when you get a big increase in capability. |

In addition, you can't upgrade down. So a 2-5-1 unit can't be upgraded to a 1-8-1 unit.As has been mentioned, you can't change unit types. The various types are: Combat land unit vs. artillery unit Non-combat SAM needlejet vs. regular needlejet In addition, units can't be upgraded to psi armor/weapon.
