While it is clear to me that the odds of cathing a mindworm are not those promised in the manual/datalinks I have not seen any other equations to determine the odds. Does anybody know wheter they have been published ?

I'm sure you want specifics, but I know the chances decrease based on the number of mind worms that have been captured so far. Meaning the more you capture, the less chance you have the next time.I know I've seen it. It's in the published strategy guide (Prima, I think). I never bought it, just browsed through it in the store. I'm sure the larger book stores would have it. I've also seen it at Computer Stores. Caution: The formula may have changed since several patches have been released so far. |

+1 Planet= 25% mindworm capture +2Planet= 50% worm capture +3 Planet= 75% capture anything higher doesn't help you more than +3 Thus you can never get +100% captureHigh Priest Hope I could help |

Each mindworm you capture reduces your chances of catching the next one by 5 or 10% from the basic rate, down to a minimum 5 or 10% capture rate. I'm thinking I read somewhere here that it was -10% and 10% respectively.I think if your captured worms are killed off or released to the wild, your chances are increased on the next capture attempt. |

Also remember that you can only capture mindworms if YOU are the attacker! I was confused at first but then I realized there was no capture attempt message when the mindworms attacked me.-Arjuna |

I'm thinking I read somewhere here that it was -10% and 10% respectively. So by the time you get tech to change your PLANET rating from 1 to 3 (as gaian) it realy does not matter because you have catched too many already (ie more than 7) bringing you down to 10 % chance irrespectively of wheter your "basic" chance is 25% or 75% BTW where can you read about this ? |

I also remember reading somewhere (again, Prima in the store, maybe) that the chance to capture a mind worm is nil when the attacker has less that one movement point left (hasty assault). |
