Because this game allows such a variety of unit designs, you can come up with some neat units. What are your favorite unit designs?
Here are some of mine:
Just taken over an enemy base? Lots of drones slowing production? Slap in a 1-1-1 Police unit. Sometimes even the best armored defensive unit just gets killed anyway, so why spend all that production on expensive armor. These guys just cost 10 production and get rid of 2 drones. You can build the more expensive defenses later.
Need to build new roads quickly? Make a speeder former. They have two moves, allowing them to move into a clear square, then begin building the road in the same turn. Also useful if you are moving formers around a lot to service several colonies at once.
One of my favories is the probe sub foil. Sneak deep into enemy waters and probe his bases without detection.

Favourite units... hmm...
It was fun when I once tweaked alpha.txt so that the game had a new "basic unit design". Hehe... it was a hovertank 24-12-3 and cost 10 minerals to produce... it had all the special abilities that could be put on a hovertank...

One I like is a cruiser chassie with transport module, carrier deck, and a repair bay. It can serve as a repair unit for your ground forces during a landing invasion and can carry aircraft, helicopters and/or land units.

I know from other posts that this is a 'cheat' but....
A probe cruiser with Antimatter armour. It just looks so sleek and black and cool. In fact, any probe unit with Antimatter armour.
