Here's an interesting little phenomenon which I find highly useful in the end game when I want to wrap up a conquest victory quickly. It's a bit of a bug similar to the "getting the most out of your supply crawler" thread.

If you upgrade an unit in a city, it loses its turn.

But if you upgrade an unit via the unit workshop [which means all units in that class gets upgraded automatically], then no movement points are lost.

The way I apply this trick/cheat is by making Drop Trained scout infantry at my home bases, drop them into the combat zone, and then use the workshop to convert them to GravBlink Singularity Shock Troops. Not only do they retain the full movement points, the conversion also eliminates the 50% drop penalty.

Then I go back to the workshop, design the Drop/Trained infantry again, and set the same cities to making them. This unit can be produced in a single turn, so I effectively get a heavy duty infantry combat unit orbitally inserted for a single turn of production and 120 energy credits each.
