I'm on my first game on talent level (oooh ) as the UoP. I started out on an almost-island...comnnected to the south to a large fungusy continent w/ the Spartans. I destroyed the landbridge so the Spartans aren't on my continent. Long ago, the Morganites were tied for the most power, when we met and he declared vendetta. After getting Air Power, I built up an airforce and took all his cities quickly by destroying their defenders via air and moving in a garrison. That war ended reasonably quickly, but before it was over I met with the PK's, the Gaians, and...(insert ominous music) the Hive. (I also met the Believers but did not contact them as I knew they would declare war) No sooner than I met the Hive they decided that they would destroy me (fat chance)I tried to use the same tactic I did with the Morganites, but it wasn't working well as I didn't have enough units on hand. A truce was declared and I took the one remaining PK city (Hive had taken the rest) and met up with Miriam. (The standard I will destroy you line...you know Miriam) Soon, i equipped my air force with nerve gas to speed things up a bit...YEEHA!!! I LOVE that stuff. It worked, but brought no end to the war. While I was concentrating on the Hive, the Believers struck at my homeland. They took Bibliotyek letters, by city with three SP's and the best production rate in my empire. No sooner did I eliminate all their defenders then THAT #&*()$ DESTROYED MY CITY!!!! 3 SECRET PROJECTS! THOUSABDS OF UNIVERSITYANS! THE PRODUCTION!!! I had just gotten nike cababiilities and was planning to use this city to pump out nukes. The Spartans also struck and took one of the two outposts on their continent, and have the other under siege. Now I'm stuck in a long, unprofitable war and the Spartans took Orbital Spaceflight, so I'm hurrying for Advanced to get ODPs.I was planning to nuke the Believers, but that would take forever and they're mostly out of range. If I used a tactical assault, would I die in their counterattack? Wait...A plan! I take in a large force of rovers and infantry, take at leasdt one city, or as many as possible with that invasion party. Then, I take the PB's I'll have been stockpiling, toss a few at the Spartans, and move them to that base. Then, after I get enough there to either destroy them completely or cripple them so they could easily be taken by a conventional attack. Of course, that still leaves the Gaians...I could defend myself rom their attacks after the Nuke War, build up PBs and a conventional army, and ground them to dust. Of course what I really want is peace, but that won't happen. Is my plan feasible? Please tell me if not or if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Suggestion 1 - hit the return key every now and then. It's hard to read a solid block of text.

Suggestion 2 - If you want to do a nuke war, don't do it by halves. When the nukes fly, fire off 4-6 and reduce the entire core of their empire to char. Firing them off in 1s and 2s just gives people the chance to retaliate.

Why are you fighting so many people at once?

There are several points you seem to have forgotten:

1. Don't fight a war that you can't win.

2. Even with air power you still need to maintain naval superiority. Think Britain. Otherwise, what good is it to sit on an island?

3. Use probe teams. Massed probe team actions can generate serious damage. Go steal money, steal tech, and cause general mayhem. This works best if you have a city on the same island/continent.

5. Start catalyst wars. Do nasty things to enemy bases while blaming on other factions you are already at war. This make them fight each other and reduces the pressure on your front.

6. Clean reactor is god. After you get the tech you can stack tons of units in a city (or have them out kicking butt) without worrying about support costs.

"Catalyst Wars"?? (blaming other factions) I'm a new player/poster and, though I've seen this tactic a couple of times in the forum, I've no idea how you do it.

Could someone please enlighten me as to how you "frame" the other factions (it sounds fun)

Thanks,
JB

Framing other factions for your mischief is an option for probe team activities. When you go to steal tech, drain energy, or sabotage something, an option comes up: clean getaway or blame Miriam, Yang, whoever.

It reduces your chance of success, but it can be a great way of stirring up dischord among folks you're already fighting. The downside of it is that if your probe team is caught, both the victim and the framed" faction will pronounce vendetta -- the threat loses its teeth when there's already a vendetta going.

It's a win-win proposition: you get the tech, energy, or weakened opponent, and have an added bonus of opening up another front.

Reply 1: Actually I'm surprised it's not more gibberishy...NEVER type when you're half asleep. Sorry!

Reply 2: I always try to make peace, but they attack me. (Possibly because at one point my reputation was "wicked"..seriously. I've never seen that before)

Urban Ranger: I know, naval power was never a big importance to me...it sure is now! (Stupid Believers!)

Thanks to all who replied!

I'm just reading over my topic, and dang, that's gibberish! "Nike Cababilities"?
You were right, it needs more spacing and whatnot.

If you need an extra edge right before an attack and are pretty sure you'll win, take out a loan from your future prey. Then, attack, and use the extra $ to buy more units, mind control, whatever. Since payments aren't payed during war, you can end up paying almost nothing. Then you can take the rest of their cash with base captures!

A little sleazy, maybe, but it can help if they're really rich.
