Histories of the Morganic Non-War

Press release: Morgan Industries, 2101

CEO Morgan is pleased to announce incorporation of Morgan Industries, the first publicly held corporation on Alpha Centauri. Revenues in the first year are anticipated to reach 3 energy credits.

Upon the recommendation of CEO Morgan and the board of directors, stockholders approved a corporate charter that includes the following elements:

1) It is the goal of Morgan Industries to achieve total Alpha Centauri energy market domination.

2) Morgan Industries believes that war is wasteful but that the maintenance of an unsurpassed military organization is vital to the business interests of the corporation and can be a very useful negotiating tool.

3) Achieving the goals of market domination and a strong military requires a solid infrastructure that is best accomplished through rapid population growth.

CEO Morgan said: "Recognizing the importance of growth, we have committed the total productivity of our first base to building 5 colony pods exclusively over the next 40 years. Furthermore, each new base will be ordered to place a new colony pod into their build queue as soon as possible. We will continue that strategy until we have at least 25 bases on-line."

Excerpt from The Histories of the Morganic Non-War

"Morgan Industries was fortunate to have achieved planetfall on one of the two large continents on Alpha Centauri. They were soon to discover, however, that they shared the continent with the Believers and the Peacekeepers. Morgan established his first base on the western tip of that continent, Lal on the eastern tip and the Believers in the south central arid portion. The presence of the Monsoon Jungle -- rich with resources -- near the center of the continent would soon prove to be a point of contention for the three factions.

"The next largest continent, separated by narrow straits on both the east and west of the Morgan continent was shared by the Gaians, University of Planet and the Hive. The Spartans held a position on a small continent just to the north of that second continent. At that point in time, 50% of Planet's surface was covered with water.

Morgan Declares Vendetta on Believers

(Worm Street Journal, 2133) In a surprise move, the Morgan Industries board of directors approved a military action against the Believers Faction. "During an exploration mission, one of our scout rovers discovered a Believer colony pod approaching our border" said CEO Morgan. "A Believer base in that vicinity would severly limit our chances for growth and restrict our access to the Monsoon Jungle. We directed our rover to eliminate the competition from the region."

Morgan Industries reported establishment of their 5th base, Morgan Aerodynamics, positioned at the edge of the Monsoon Jungle. They also reported earnings of 25 credits for the preceding fiscal year.

Excerpt from The Histories of the Morganic Non-War

"Soon after the lightning-quick capture of two bases from the Believers including the headquarters, New Jerusalem, the Morgan military discovered that their opponents had developed syntmetal garrisons and laser infantry. The Morganites realized they had insuffient might to counter the opposition. They decided to establish a siege around The Lord's Truth in the center of the Monsoon Jungle -- the Believers' last remaining base -- with the hopes of starving the base until stronger offensive weapons could be developed. The strategy was successful in that Believing production was greatly reduced and Morgan loses were light. The arrival of brand new impact speeders produced quick results and the Lord's Truth was acquired successfully. CEO Morgan was dissapointed to learn, however, that Miriam who steadfastly refused to surrender had been reported to have escaped in a colony pod to a group of small islands northeast of the Morgan continent.

Meanwhile, Morgan negotiators were succesful in signing a trade treaty with Lal of the Peacekeepers. The pact effectively divided the Monsoon Jungle between the two factions. The board of directors immediately gave orders to convert the corporation to a Green economy with the hopes of a long period of peace and a bull-market to come.

Cool I just started a game as Morgan, and I haven't played him before, so it will be interesting to see how and what you do.

Human Behavior is economic behavior...

M E M O R A N D U M

TO: Bill Gates Jr., Manager, Morgan Ocean Resources

FROM: CEO Morgan, Morgan Industries

DATE: 4/23/2178

SUBJECT: Negotiations with Lady Diedre, Gaian Faction

The Board of Directors applauds your efforts in establishing a Morgan sea base off the coast of the newly discovered continent and inititating positive negotiations with Lady Diedre of the Gaian faction. It is certain your achievements will be remembered during your upcoming performance evaluation.

With regard to those negotiations and Lady Diedre's request for military assistance in her war against Chairman Yang, marketing research supports your assessment that the Gaians' are unsurpassed. We conclude that it is in our best interest to establish a trading pact with the Gaians immediately. While we have no reliable data on Yang's forces, we suspect the economic advantages of such a pact will far outweigh the risks of declaring vendetta against Yang.

You are authorized to assure Lady Diedre that her request has been approved in exchange for a trade pact and we will begin to supply such support immediately. You are advised _NOT_ to inform her that we lack any naval transport capability at this time and that it is unlikely that we can send any significant force to assist her for many years. Again, relying on marketing's assessment of her strength, we believe she can handle the Yang threat without any real assistance from Morgan Enterprises.

Meanwhile, we urge you to proceed without delay in constructing kelp farms and tidal harnesses. We anticipate great energy and research production from your base and the other new and future sea bases we are building. That plan, combined with a trade pact with the Gaian's means you need not worry about mineral production. Your purchase requisitions for units and facilities will receive top priority in accounting. Good luck!

Trump Promoted at Morgan Ocean Resources

(Worm Street Journal, 2190)

Morgan Enterprises announced the promotion of Donald Trump III to the positions of General Manager and Governor of Morgan Ocean Resources amid rumors of management dissatisfaction with the performance of his predecessor, Bill Gates Jr. Anonymous sources point to a recent string of Gaian defeats at the hands of Chairman Yang's forces as leading to several heated exchanges between Gates and CEO Morgan. Analysts believe Morgan blundered in assuming the Gaians could stand up to the Hive invasion. Some propose that his alliance with Lady Diedre threatens the future success of his corporation and that Morgan blames Gates for providing misleading advice in the decision to make such an alliance. CEO Morgan declined comment.

Perhaps in related news, reports of production orders for naval transports and probe teams at several Morgan bases have sparked speculation that Morgan plans to somehow finally intervene on the behalf of the Gaians in their struggle against the Hive. Analysts question the continued buildup of military forces in the eastern region bordering the territory of the Peacekeepers, a Morgan treaty partner, at the apparent expense of providing military support to the Gaians.
