For years, the Hive has been building their armies, mass fleets, and air forces. We could detect only one target: Us. The Gaians, Believers, and Morganites had already been wiped out by this menace. The Spartans, although being _extremely_ large, were mostly size 3-4 sea bases. The Peacekeepers were on an Antarctician continent where Yang could not contact or reach them. We, on the other hand, were the perfect target. The same amount of bases and territory, slightly higher tech, Mt. Planet, same continent, and many SP's. Then, in the fateful year of 2320, it happened. Hive missle infantry attacks Biblyotech Letters, a border base of size five, with 2 Plasma Garrisons and a Perimeter Defense. Luckily, fighting many Mindworm attacks had payed off for them, as their greater experience led them to victory.

The Great War had begun.

We have managed to hold back the Hive with our Air Defense Force. Chaos Penetrators scout every turn for any incoming armies. They can spot them far before they would ever get the chance to attack, since there is some "no man's land" between us.

Now, Prokhor Zakharov has decided it is time to attack. 3 Chaos Invaders are waiting in the fungus next to Morgan Aerodynamics. 4 of our 10 Penetrators will attack and clear most defenders. Any others will be mopped up by the infantry.

We have also gotten reports of the PK's building up a large army down on their continent. We hope they will not join in this war.

Our Allies, the Spartans, still have not agreed to join us in the war against the Hive. We will keep trying to convince them. We hope we do.

The attack failed miserably. Once the penetrators had gone, Hive Infantry sneaked through unguarded spots and attacked us. Bibliotech Science was reduced to a former defending it while a Plasma Garrison was rush bought. In the bases we captured, all defenders were destroyed quickly, since the Air Force they were counting on for cover flew back to home territory to patrol again. We won nothing, and lost troops.

We have come up with a new plan. We will attack Morgan Aerodynamics again. This time, we will send a strike force to attack the previously Gaian cities at the other side of the Hive Territory. We hope the forces will be thin there, because of the atacks elsewhere. This could be our last chance.

Nice thread. Keep the info coming. I was however deeply upset to hear of my early demise?!?.
What level/map/rules are you playing?

nice thread. Isn't interesting how easily SMAC lends itself to story telling in this fashion. You write very well, keep it up.

The plan has succeeded. We now have control over Gaian High Garden and Razorbeak wood. The Hive, however, has not drawn back at all, and has managed to get some infantry and artillary units through. Bibliotech Letters has almost been captured twice, and is still under seige. To make matters worse, the Hive now has an Air Force. They are covering the infantry, making it impossible to destroy them. We are currently building our first fighters, but they might not be ready soon enough.

The worst is yet to come. The Peacekeepers have joined in the brawl, with a sizable army attacking both us and the Hive. We still cannot persuade the Spartans to join us, so we will have to survive and win on our own.

The Spartans have finally agreed to help us in the war against the Peacekeepers. They should be a big help. No assistance from them against the Hive, though.

We have gotten reports of the Hive constucting some missles and sattelites. This is very disturbing, for it means they have the capability to launch Planet Busters. We are researching towards an Orbital Defense Sattelite, which will stop the PB's. We hope we can get them before we are hit.

The battle with the PK's has been goin well. We have captured all their sea bases, and a strike force is nearing their continent. We should soon control most of PK territory.

The Hive is still attacking, and have recaptured Razorbeak Wood. They are moving towards our poorly defended top flank. We are rushing some units there until some of our Air Defense Force arrives.

Glad to see more people posting stories on the board. After a while, answering questions of newcomers and arguing over which faction is best gets boring. A nice strategy story or two interests everyone.

We have just finished research on a new type of weapon, Plasma Shards. This should help our troop immensely, as the Hive defense is very strong. Also, University Base has just completed the Cyborg Factory, making our units highly trained when the begin to battle. We also have some orbital defense pods in orbit to defend against PB's.

We have recaptured Razorbeak Wood, and have also captured Gaia's Landing. We are now driving towards the Hive center, but it will not be easy, as reports indicate they have over 100 units there.

On the Peacekeeping front, we are faring better. We have captured UN Humanity Base and UN Temple of Sol. We are now moving in towards UN Headquarters.

Before I continue... Babylon 5? What the heck does this have to do with Babylon 5? Oh, well. On with the story....

We have totally destroyed the PK's. Their interfering army won't bother the University any more.

The Hive is becoming a major problem. They have recaptured all ex-Gaian territory, and threatened many of my bases. They have also began to use Fusion Guns, which does not help the situation. We are slowly falling. Zakharov has come up with another plan, however. We will send a few transports full of units around the world to the other side of the Hive. Our hope is that we can hold out until it gets there....

The transports have made it! They are currently unloading all their troops on the Hive heartland. We upgraded them with our new Quantum weapon mid-trip, so they should be very effective.

Biblyotech Letters has been lost and retakn twice so far. We have just moved three Neutronium Sentinels into the base, so we should be able to hold it. We hope those Quantum Invaders will be enough to bring the Hive down. They are our last chance.....

A great victory has been achieved! Socilism Tunnels is ours! This base was a main center of Hive military, being size 14, and reports show 12 units were disbanded. We hope that we can hold it, for it is linked to many other bases by Magtubes.

The Spartans are becoming a nuciance, as they will still not declare Vendetta on the Hive. It is most annoying to see 10 Shard choppers on hold in a sea base 3 tiles from The Hive. We hope they will attack soon, as that will be the turning point.

The Hive has retaken Socialism Tunnels, but we have reretaken it every time. The war down there has gotten very intense, with brutal fighting on either side. Meanwhile, the Hive forces in our territory have retreated to defend their main cities. We are building up Graviton Choppers and Invaders to attack the Hive. This should be succesful. We hope it will be.

We have won! The Graviton Choppers ripped through the Hive heartland, and the our Elite Hovertanks picked up the pieces. Yang has been personally interrogated, and is spending the rest of his life in a Punishment Sphere.
