I think that in patch 4.0, there should be another way to win the game. You should be able to regain contact with earth through some secret project or sending a spaceship back, like in civ2 or the civ2 scenario Mars. If there is anyone else out there who agrees, respond, add your suggestions for alternate routes to victory, maybe if we get enough people to voice their opinion we can get this put in patch 4.0. Tell other people, get them to respond to this. Also, anything else you want to see in patch 4.0, this is the place to put it!

Flying and space cities would also be a good idea for some version.

I wouldn't like it. There is already one way to win by research. What's the point in having another?
And in my mind, the earth is destroyed. Because of them being so savage (when you hear planet talking in the Aerospace thing, she talk of Earth being dead despite her youth.)
