how many of you believe it is worth the while to spend precious time building secret projects your faction doesn't even need. Is keeping other SP's away from other factions really as important as it seems.. (If your a Spartan all SP's are going to be yours anyway...)But I hafta admit, I am a CEO and I tend to try and build every SP, and when i lose one I kick myself (or the comp.)

What do you'all think?

Hey! You have to build the SP's because they really kick in, mainly Voice of Planet (duh), Hunter-Seeker Algorithym and most of the big ones, they give you a huge advantage, if you have the Universal Translator you can turn the Spartans into the University in a snap!

I beleive that SP hogging is important. When I play the Hive, I build the Citizen's Defense Force just so that I don't have to fight another faction that has it. Make war much easier.

HOG THEM! I just recently won (about 1/2 hr ago to be exact) via Transendance. I built every project but a couple (Planetary Transit and Merchants Guild). My starting city and capitol had 12 including both parts of Transendance.

If you got a high mineral city going, build one whenever you get the chance.

5 Tips:
1)Hunter-Seeker makes up for the University lone real weakness (Drones are easy to get around).
2)Don't build every Project in one supercity.
3)If you have a city with 2 or more Mineral increasers (aka Robotic Plant, GeneJack, etc) and the Space Elevator, don't build space improvements there. Sure you can build them in one turn, but your Ecology number goes thru the roof.
4)Supercollider and the Theory of Everything goes hand in hand.
5)Finally, and most importantly, CLONING VATS!

Well, my big production base can crank out a secret project every 4 turns, so, yeah, I usually go ahead and build them, I play with transcendence victory off though, so Ascent doesn't really do anything, not even sure if you can build it.

Neat tip. Cluster build.

This is easiest if using self directed tech, and preferably at Talent or below (so other factions can't undermine your efforts)

When a secret project turns up, put 3 or 4 good bases onto it. Then head for techs with new projects attached. When each new project comes along, change one of the originals over. When all bases are producing different Projects, only go for techs that don't give you more. In this way, it's easy to get 2/3 to 3/4 of all projects

I've used that same trick, but I just moved beyond Librarian and have found that

1. It doesn't work as well, the AI will switch to a new SP when I beat it to one, and I often don't win the second race *unless* I have the cash.

2. I get taken over.
