Topic: Contains New Posts Since Your Last Login -OR NOT?-

Can anyone tell me why the server is trying to tell me that topics that haven't had new posts for over 48 hours contain new posts since my last login? Some of these are trying to tell me that posts above mine are new since my last login. If this is my fault I want to know how to fix it so that I can keep track of current topics, not read the same things repeatedly.

Your last login time is stored in your browsers cookies file. So if you're reading these forums from two or more computers, you need to copy the cookies.txt (or whatever your browser uses) file to the new computer. |

I'm only looking at this from home. I have no time to do so at school, even though their ISDN line beats my v.90 (I only get 44K or so) |

Then make sure your browser saves the cookies properly. |

Only IE4 works for me. IE3 screws it up. Besides, if you were on the forums enough, you would know without the help of your browser. Sheeesh! Kid nowadays... |

I've noticed that if I click into one of the forums before the main forum page finishes loading, the next time I reload, I get the same problem as ZanThrax. My suggestion: let the page fully load (just the main one) before you move into one of the categories (general comments, etc.) |

Quick addendum: I think the page needs to fully load to get the cookie to save properly. |

I'm here at least twice a day, so I set my prefs to last day only, but I can never remember what time it was two time zones away when I was last here. Thanks Loki. I think you're right. I don't let the main page load every time. |
