posted 10-05-99 02:44 AM ET I can believe all the SMAC weapons and armor typesup to and including the missiles & silksteel, but afterwards the Trek Factor goes way up. Why did the designers decide to invent a different type of "gun" for each new attack rating? This strikes me as a total cop out, because all you need to do is think of a name appropriate for the tech discovery that gives you the gun, draw the gun and decide what attack rating it will have. Little creativity involved. I would have much preferred discrete unit types, ala CIV2, but related to tech advances in a significant way. How about actually *using* nanotech on the battlefield, instead of just coming up with a "future tank" (hovertank).

Well do you have any better ideas besides that one?

Makes sense to me to have a different gun for each different attack level. Using nanotechnology on the battle field would have been cool, but wouldn't that have just been another type of weapon, and this time with the same attack as another?
