how do you play this smac game. The ai kicks my ass at the easiest level . How do you build bases? I cannot win with one base.

I MEANT TO SAY GOOD QUESTIONS, NOT "how do you build bases."
Step 1
Build colony pod
Step 2
Move to desired base location
Step 3
Push b
And why does the ai kick you on citizen? It sounds pointless.

It is a worthy build if you build it in lots of bases or if you use the gaians (for mind worms)

Not at citizen level. Vel transcended before 2200 at transcend difficulty. He is a master!
I did 225something....at transcend.
I am, of course, a SMACMASTER.

Y: Q is a super-being from Star Trek with the power to locally change "constants" of nature, change his form, cause instant travel over great distances. Q does not appear in SMAC, so his powers are clearly limited, and we can safely forget about him in future.
jimmytrick: Biology labs are worthwhile for the protection they give against a certain plague, for the bonus they give to mindworms you produce, and in bases with science improvements. In SMAC the +50% from a Research Lab is not on Labs Output, but on Total Research. Likewise for Nanohospital, Quantum Labs, Supercollider, etc. So a base with a Labs output of 20 and lots of facilities and special projects, may end up with 20 * 1.5 * 1.5 * 1.5 * 1.5 * 1.5 ... Research Points, which is a lot. If the +2 of Biology Labs enters the very start of the calculation, then it's no longer just +2 but becomes worth over 10 maybe even 20 Research Points at a fully developed Science Base.

Zoe and Y....jimmytricks questions to Y were to test Y's knowledge of the game and to see why he thinks he is a smacmaster. The answers are already known to him so they dont need to be explained to him. He is an excellent player according to others from the forums and he is quite knowledgeable on the game . He is playing mindgames with you.
