What would a faction of nomads be like? They could't keep bases for more than 20 turns (except maybe one, designated by the player)? All their bases once they'd discovered a certain tech start at level 7 or so? -2 growth, +1 tech, +1 probe, they enter the game with Doctrine: Mobility? It would be interesting to play but would require a large amount of micromanagement. Maybe a Planet bonus, too, because they know it well from moving around on it.This idea inspired by the nomads in the history stories for Homeworld, on its home page, http://www.sierrastudios.com/games/homeworld . Feel free to bash my ideas to a pulp, that's what they're there for. Sir Penguin

Sir_Pengui I doubt you'll see this but here it goes. I think your nomad idea is a pretty good idea. By any chance did you experiment with it by makeing a custom faction with its characterists. President Metzler United Emperial Confederation |

What won't I see? Your post? Hmmm. Sight is fairly relative, to misquote somebody. Anyway, UEC, thanks, and I haven't considered it because I am too impatient with that sort of thing. I tried with Age of Empires but it got too boring (copy...paste...copy...paste...change number...copy...paste...paste...****...delete...change number...CTRL ALT DEL). So if anybody else would like to make a custom faction based upon my idea, feel free. It's your idea now.Sir Penguin |

sir_penguin, I didn't think you would check to see if any one had replied. I had posted the next day. But sounds like you come to the foroms frequently. AOE cool. |

Well first of all, WOW! this is the most unique idea i have ever heard for a faction. BUT... to make that sorta thing you wouldnt be just editing text files. You would have to decompile terran.exe and edit it there, damn near impossible for any novice to medium programmer.-Parker |

Thanks, and UEC, I'm afraid to admit it, but I come here every day (and the crowd laughs at the sadness of Sir Penguin). My register date is misleading, because I registered a while before the game came out, and left until the end of last summer. I didn't even lurk. And finally, I'm not even a novice programmer. I've never done that sort of thing, and don't plan on doing it until InfoTech next year. SP |

UEC, I'm a bit off-topic but, for your info: if you start a new forum topic, as sir_penguin did, you can chose to have an e-mail sent to you every time someone post a reply. No needs to check by yourself every minute I've never used it, but when all that "resurrect old threads at forum" start, someone complained about receiving unwanted mail on dead argument. |

Did that when I first registered, and haven't done it since. I think that it was Lurker or somebody with an L name who made that post. It ran up around 100 when he first started it, and then, a couple of months later, somebody revived it. Whoever started the thread was very annoyed. I'd suggest that you don't do it, because you never know what thread is going to shoot off into the hundreds. There's a thread in the Strat & Tac Forum which is, I think, at about 295 posts, and is titled "Dont post here". Strange, strange. Oh, and to stay on topic...well, I have no excuse for this post.adieu, Sir Penguin |
