has anyone encountered an error where the game stops, flashes a message that says something about a terran.exe error and then the game crashes? thanks

I don't know, you know the Windows 98 web page formatt? I type d:\sid meier/alpha centauri/terran.exe and the game starts then freezes. I can only start the game from the autorun on the CD, but I don't mind. |

That problem was quite common until the first patch or so. What version are you playing? You should be using 3 at least, though 4 fixed a few things (except load times, which went the other direction). |

patch 4.0, the loading takes FOREVER! And another thing, when you cheat a lot, the game instantly collapses and the save is damaged, even if you saved it before this error, is it just my problem? |

Ha! That would be a cheap and dirty way to stop players from cheating. I kind of like that if it was done on purpose: "We won't fix the problem--but we'll fix YOUR lazy, cheating..."Well, I can't confirm it since I stopped playing a while back. Plus, I never cheat in games--unless I'm testing something. Though I might just load up again and do some cheating just for fun to see if Firaxis is getting revenge. |
